We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Persephone Justice a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Persephone , appreciate you joining us today. Is your team able to work remotely? If so, how have you made it work? What, if any, have been the pitfalls? What have been the non-obvious benefits?
I do most of my energy healing work remotely over the phone or zoom. I love it because that means we can do the big healing work where you feel the most comfortable, at home. No need to dress up or battle a commute. Just get cozy and comfortable and it helps the healing process.
I love remote healing work because it helps me really focus in on the energy of the person I’m helping without all the distractions of being in person. Also, it gives me the freedom to do the session from anywhere that would serve my clients best. I have a client who loves water and finds healing in it, but lives in a desert, so one time when I saw she was on my calendar I drove to the ocean and we did a phone session while I walked in the water. She could hear the sounds of the waves and the gulls and enjoy the energy of the sea in the session.
Remote work also gives me the opportunity to work with people all over the world. I have clients from the east coast to the west coast and overseas. It gives people who resonate best with my services the opportunity for us to work together, even if we live in different parts of the world.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Persephone and I’m an intuitive energy healer. I started energy work by getting certified as an Usui Reiki Master back in 2007 when I was in fundamentalist religion. It was forbidden by the faith, but I always felt drawn to it, so I started learning it mostly in secret. In 2013 I began to add to my set of energy tools by learning other techniques and modalities, and all of a sudden my life started to change in huge ways. I healed out of fundamentalism and then out of my dysfunctional marriage. I started a new life for myself that has been emerging and evolving in big ways ever since.
While I work with many kinds of people in many kinds of circumstances, I love to work with people healing from high demand religion. It is such an empowering journey to change the authority in your life from those at the pulpit to your own inner knowing. Often those of us in controlling faiths were never taught that faith shifting is natural and normal and even has measurable steps. Since I have walked this path myself, I have a unique empathy and vantage point that others might struggle to understand if they have never lived it. It brings me joy to help people along that path to freedom.
I also love doing generational healing. We carry our ancestors with us, their trials and joys, their sufferings and celebrations, their talents and struggles. In my practice I work to heal generational lines so we can move forward with less baggage from the past, and with more knowledge of the inherited gifts. Doing generational work heals not only the client but all those that come after, and can have a beautiful and far reaching effect.
Another part of my work that I love is helping other healers recognize and embrace their own gifts. Often people don’t realize they are healers, or know they are, but are not sure how to go about using their gifts. I love assisting healers to step into their gifts and to let their lives bloom as a result.
I have used my love art and healing to create oracle decks that I sell on Etsy. I love creating designs that people can have fun with and learn from and use for their own healing and empowerment.
What I am most proud of with my work is getting to watch my clients’ lives improve. Some people I work with had been trying for years and years unsuccessfully to move forward, and with regular sessions they find their lives in a completely different space, and they feel inspired and empowered to move forward like never before. Any time a person heals from their past, the world is a more healed place, and I love being able to assist in that process.
Often people come to me who have had no experience with energy work and are scared or skeptical. I very much understand this because I felt the same way when I started learning about it. The proof is in the results. I have a completely different life in every way than before I started this work, and I see that all the time in my clients who show up for their own healing work. I have never had a client who came to me scared and skeptical leave feeling that way.
I enjoy the deep connection and sacred trust that happens in a session. It can be a life-changing experience, especially when done regularly. My goal with my work is always to help people live their best lives in the here and now. I want life to feel more delicious and beautiful, and for people to be able to create a life full of things that make them happy and bring them joy, no matter what they endured in the past. To me energy work isn’t about a belief system or God or to transcend or escape humanness. It is to help you fully embrace the now, and to help you create the life you desire.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
As a healer, the first person I had to heal was myself. My journey took me from being a fundamentalist housewife in a dysfunctional marriage to a free woman living life on her own terms. In the course of just a few years, I had a faith shift out of fundamentalism, a divorce, then was widowed. Through all of those extremely difficult chapters in my life, I kept learning and healing and growing. I make sure to practice what I preach to my clients and show up for my own healing work daily. We all have been through difficult things. We all need healing. We all have so much potential for joy. It starts with showing up for yourself.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was that I couldn’t trust myself. Growing up in a highly controlling faith, I was trained to trust authority and that our own inner authority is secondary to other’s power over us. It has been a journey of finding myself step by step, and learning to trust myself a little more each day as I see the results and changes in my life. Now, looking back on how far I’ve come, I know I can trust myself to do what it takes to be well and to build the best life I can for myself and to help others do the same.
