We recently connected with Pepper Stewart and have shared our conversation below.
Pepper , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Social media has changed the game so to speak. Back when we started the talk show (2012) the options for broadcasting were limited to the technology at the time. We are credited with being the first ever rural tv interactive talk show seen live globally. In the early days you went to a website to watch the show and live chat with us and other viewers during the show. You have to remember this was before any social media live options, Vine clips were big, and periscope was starting to make a name. We were the go-to place for free ranch and rodeo news, lots of big headlines were broke on the show. We were the place athletes and associations came to tell their side of the story or create a headline. Over time our format has been copied by many and with the blow up of the live options on social media we too had to change up out broadcast to roll with the punches.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m just a guy who grew up on a Texas cattle farm riding horses and doing farm stuff. Played in the rodeo arena a little while riding bulls and working as a bull fighter aka Rodeo Clown until I aged out. I’m still competitive and currently compete in ranch horse events. On screen you can find on a rodeo commentary broadcast, emcee events, or working in the movie and tv business. I’ve been in the mix on the reboot of the tv series DALLAS, WALKER, and recently the hit Tv show Yellowstone an 1883 along with a few other minor ad spots.

How did you build your audience on social media?
My content on social media is more comedy than serious, there are plenty of other outlets to troll if you into arguing, or dancing in the political arena. I would rather keep you laughing than firing up your keyboard warrior hands and give you carpal tunnel. Those just starting out just do what you want to do the way you want to do it. I think that’s why I’ve been around so long is I don’t listen to the BS and do it my way. If it works the way I, did it great, if it fails at least, I gave it a shot my way. Do what your passionate about at the following will come, don’t force it.

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
When it comes to brands and advertising, we stick to brand we use and support. We have a very short list of partnerships and advertisers, because don’t take just anyone. It must be something we use, or we like to make it on the show. We have rocked a few boats by turning down ads and products we didn’t like, but that how we roll, and our followers/viewers appreciate it.
