We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Penny Bell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Penny , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

I believe it takes, a strong mind set. It takes dedication, keeping God ahead of every move you make! But, it also takes the right team to help encourage your dreams and goals . Once you have those things in control you can be successful in anything.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Yes , my name is Penny Bell. I am a hairstylist from North Carolina . Hometown Is in Kinston, NC I started out doing hair at the age of 13 I’m now 32 years old and is now a business owner of “Miracle Hands Products & Services”. My company provides our consumers with natural hair products for hair growth for all not just for women, but for men as well. I got into my industry by going to different workshops, different fashion shows etc, networking with likeminded individuals like myself. I knew I was going to be a little different from certain individuals in the industry the moment I started looking and viewing hair as more then just hair. I view hair as ART. I knew while I was in school the very one thing I wanted to do is branch out and start hosting my own hair shows that’s for sure! I knew in order to do this I would need to engage with the right agencies. And the perfect models, I started working with FTM the beginning of this year which is an modeling agency known as Final Touch Model agency. I spoke with Latoya Scott and told her exactly how I visioned everything. She and I prayed about it. On May 14, 2022 I hosted my first hair show & 2nd one on October 14, 2022. Two amazing days I’ll NEVER forget! I’ve met & had some amazing models from the modeling industry to walk for me in my hair shows. My models were Priscilla Robinson_Griffin (my daughter), Jessica Jones, Kimoraa Ambrus, Chrisette Simon, Angel Mcclennham, Kolbyashi Nelson, & Jacquelyn Love. I had the pleasure of collaborating with clothing designer Skipp Waller he provided each model with their amazing looks for my show as well as makeup artist Mej Dazion. So when I say success comes with the right team that’s exactly what I had. The best team ever!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

My most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been going out promoting my hair products at certain hair stores, going to different workshops, traveling doing different shows etc.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.

I NEVER looked at my hair business as a side hussle EVER! I’ve always viewed it as my main source of income. Because, when I started at 13 before I actually started making income hair is what got me out of hard situations. So, to be honest “Miracle Hands Products & Services” is definitely a main source of income for me!
