We recently connected with Pegatina Criolla and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Pegatina , thanks for joining us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
More than happy I am fortunate to be able to make a living from my art. It has not been an easy task during these 15 years, but with perseverance and discipline I have managed to find the driving force of my existence.
I do not see myself working in a normal or regular position since that creatively limits me.
Pegatina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Pegatina Criolla is a multidisciplinary art and design project created in 2008 and consolidated in 2010 with the creation of a fictional character called PEGATINA CRIOLLA, this idea was born in the city of Bogotá in Colombia, this story begins with a daily drawing , with which begins this long story full of many emotions, several personal achievements, trips around the world and a constant search to make a difference within Colombian graphics, being a reference for future generations.
Today Pegatina Criolla dedicates its time to creating staging without pretense, to creating unique works without concept under a position of constant evolution and self-critical change in the face of its own work since everything at this moment revolves around the spiritual, the physical , and the mental, giving priority to SELF-LOVE, PERSONAL AND FAMILY CARE.
The idea of the project is to continue creating and sharing this story around the world to also transcend time and be a point of reference for those who, like Pegatina Criolla, want to go beyond the spectrum of life.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Support for the creative industry is key for us to continue existing within this ecosystem. As independent artists, it is always difficult for us to be part of the great atmospheres of art and business since we are not given the opportunity to demonstrate our talent at a global level in order to grow together, making the art business more profitable and the creative industry
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Six years ago I quit working in an office to dedicate myself fully to my art project. With a couple of savings and with the support of my family I was able to set up my art workshop where I have been able to get ahead with my work, taking it to various places. of the world.
