Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pedro Rodriguez . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pedro , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I learned how to engineer like most people start. YouTube. I also had a friend who already was engineering for about 20 years who taught me a bunch. The sound I wanted in my head and what I heard from major artists, YouTube alone couldn’t teach me so I went and attempted at full sail didn’t like it, decided with Berklee online music schooling. 5 certifications/degrees later I’m where I want to be. I could have did it faster if I would have skipped the bad habits YouTube teaches you. Most essential skill I believe is the ear of hearing exactly what you are doing and make sure it’s properly. The longest and hardest part I believe is that. The proper space and equipment is what held me back I believe. I invested so much now to have the space I needed to do what I do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a 5x certified Audio Engineer. I started doing this because I found myself fixated on making great sounding music. P3soproductions is all about quality over quantity and I provide that in all aspects an artist would need i.e music videos, recording, etc. What sets me apart I believe is most people where I’m from are free lance or YouTube learners which I spoke on before doesn’t teach you enough about how to get the BEST possible sound. I’m most proud of the work I myself put in to do this and the clients that I do have put forth effort the same to create what they want.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My biggest goal is getting respect from artists for what I do. I just want artists to understand without your engineer, your sound is nothing. I just want artists to know what we do isn’t easy.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect I think is even you get interactions like on posts or in person people telling you they enjoy what you do. In all forms it’s great to hear feedback from what you are doing unless you are just trying to hate on what the person is doing.
