We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pedro Cavaletti a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Pedro thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I have worked on, so far, was my new film, “Artistic Pressure”. It is a project that I wrote, directed, acted and edited. It is a very personal film about my dreams, fears, and inspirations. It tells the story of a famous artist (played by me) who succeeded soon in life and had to move to another country away from his family. He has everything he always wanted professionally, and everyone is jealous of him for that, but day after day he realizes even more that what he wanted was maybe not what he needed. He struggles to give his public what they want artistically from him and after a series of events he collapses, coming back to his origins to find the cure to his madness. It is basically how I wanted my life to be in the future and the events of the film are the things that I fear that might come along with this kind of life. Artistic Pressure will have a premiere and screenings in LA and in Brazil. But I will upload it on my YouTube Channel on January 5th (2024). So stay tuned!
Pedro, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Currently, I am graduating from acting college, I have done many films in Brazil before coming to the US and now I am focusing on projects here, but I don’t like to call myself just an actor because I am so much more, so I like to say I am an artist. I have been working as a model for my whole life, walking the runway for several fashion shows in Brazil, and now that I am here in LA I started doing it again, I walked for some designers in the 2023 LA Fashion Week and did photoshoots for magazines and other artists here. I love fashion, I spent some time in New York in 2022 studying it at Parsons, and it was so much fun, being able to develop my skills just made me want to work more and more. I have a fashion brand called Dexon, I designed and sold a collection of clothes in 2021 but now I limit myself to just working on clothes for me, at least for a while. As I said previously I love writing too, I have written two books already and two films, one of them being “Artistic Pressure”, which I shot and edited too, I spent years just doing music videos of my favorite songs to have a chance to edit with VFX and this kind of things. That’s why I wanted to fill almost all the positions of my film myself haha.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I feel like art allows me to express all the things that I am feeling and put out of my head all the junk that is messing with me. A lot of times I used art to show how I was feeling and, for me, it says more than a thousand words. So yeah, I like to talk through art and it works for me
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my main goal is to be able to work with all the things that I love and be successful with it. I want to act in a TV show and do my own outfit for the premiere, maybe write my own one and design the character’s costumes. I want to be famous for my work, it would be a blessing if my art could reach more people and maybe make a difference in someone’s life. I really want to work on inspirational projects and something to help beginner artists, because is something that I know that I would appreciate as one now.
