We were lucky to catch up with Pebbles Spearman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Pebbles, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I was young, probably pre K. I was in the media for stealing the show at our graduation. Also they took us to see the Wiz and I couldn’t stop performing in the aisle, because my parents took me prior before everyone at school scene it I was about 4yrs old.
I always performed and my parents went on drugs when I was 8yrs old. I used to sneak away from my grandparents skipping school in middle school to hit all the celebrity scenes trying to breakthrough some how. I was a teen ambassador for a local radio station / talent scout doing contests.
Life intercepted over and over again, but God kept pushing into the same type of arenas that I wasn’t looking for throughout my entire life.
Now I am doing it professionally…the God been opening doors, putting me in rooms I only dreamed of touching.
Pebbles, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My hospitality business is named A1 Concierge Services, LLC. I named it after my Gmah Ambree that ran her home like a hospitality place for family and friends. I had to learn to decorate, table settings, events, and service all at a young age. I developed a love for cooking that led to mixology and bartending. To managing bars and restaurants. A mentor asked me out of everything that I do, wh,at did I feel my purpose was the most. I told her to serve. So after realizing my purpose, my mission of my business became “Service is my Business” , because I would often get compliments of my service excellence skills. So I that my business is a “Service Excellence Provider” I care for the needs of people 1st, and everything else sells on its own.
My passion has always been entertainment as well. So Ms. Pebbles on Da Platform was created in 2015. 2023 I was a red carpet host at the BET House for the BET awards. I have a viral Snoop Dog Cereal Commercial. I was picked up by Fox 57 South Carolina Network with The Chosen 1 TV. I air before TMZ. and was just told recently that I will be moving to Saturday mornings.
Life be lifing sometimes however keep God first and he will direct your path. I am a witness.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Yes, many of them. My daughter was missing for 2 years back in 2011-2013. That was a major shift in my life and I gave up everything 2 houses to look for her. 2018, my home burned down after my son was drugged he had a deal with Warner Brothers and a friend enemy got jealous. I had long years of dealing with the healing of my children. I lost everything 2x. But during homelessness, I kept pushing, sleeping in shelters, my car, and hotels. I completed my degree, I jump started by brand and businesses during it all. The way of coping. A way of staying busy to not focus on my problems.
I am still jumping hurdles, recovering from it all, but when I say God been opening doors that I believe is due to my resilience and keeping him in the midst of it all although I have had some tough moments. He has been rewarding.
I now had to leave Maryland suddenly to take care of my grandmother and God is still showing me how to prosper from right where I am aligning me witht he right people.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I would have to say freedom. I have freedom to create whatever I want. Whether it resonates with me or supports someone else. I am always going to want to hear and understand others life journey’s and stories. I have learned that in strengthens me in my own journey and allows me to support others while supporting myself.
