We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pearl Martyr a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Pearl, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
Honestly, I wish I started my business sooner, but I’m glad I started when I did. I wish I started sooner because, the knowledge and skill from culinary school was fresh. I wish I started while I was in school. Putting myself through a private school was a rough ride in itself, but I persevered. I started my business right after graduating college and life happened, of course, and I ended up just stopping all together for years. It took a long time for me to be inspired to relaunch and stick to it. I was only 21 when started and fresh out of college. Moved from Miami back to Atlanta. Looking back, I wouldn’t have changed a thing about when I did my initial startup. I had an idea of what I wanted to do, how I wanted to brand, and I stuck with it.

Pearl, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Beauteous Treats LLC. Is a small treats or pastry business. I specialize in smaller treats and cakes. If requested, I can provide normal bakery pastries such as croissants or the usual danishes, but with my demographics and customer favorites the smaller treats or cakes is what I sell out the most. I make everything from scratch and made to order. I never have product pre-made because certain product can go to waste. I experiment with newer products all the time and test them out with my friends. They completely enjoy it. You can find my website link on my instagram page (@beauteoustreats) I am also on facebook under my business name of course. I participate in vendor pop-up shops around Atlanta from time to time as well. I have my brother and sister help me with those.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective way for me to grow my clientele has been the vendor pop-up shops. They are super fun and such a melting pot of people all the time. So marketing and meeting people building their brands as well helps me gain new customers every single time. Having other business owners and just random people try my products is life changing. They are always amazed on how good my product is. I take pride in that first bite. Seeing the joy on everyone’s face is what sucks them in. They keep coming back. I love it.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is honestly the word of mouth. After the pop-ups my cards , videos, or instagram is shared and people contact me to buy something. I think its been the best way so far. Im grateful that people think of my business when they have a sweet tooth or just a craving.
