We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Paz_Kawa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Paz_Kawa, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I am still working on earning a full-time living from my creative work. After graduating from an art university with an M.A. degree, I have applied to over 150 jobs, unfortunately I was not selected to work at these jobs. While struggling to find a full-time creative job, I worked as a volunteer animator at a nonprofit organization called Art Sphere Inc. I was making art education content for children on their YouTube and other social media platforms. Although I was not making a full-time living on the volunteer job, I could learn how to make art content for social media. After leaving the volunteer work, I started making animation and video game content with my husband. Our YouTube and Twitch channels keep growing, and we are almost there to make a full-time living.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I loved watching animated films like Disney, Pixar, and Studio Ghibli as a child. When I was in high school, I met a professional 3D modeler at Disney. He inspired me to become a professional animator in Hollywood. Unfortunately, the dream of becoming an animator at Hollywood is still in progress, but I am still passionate about making animation. My most unique skill is I can create engaging social media content such as animation memes, emotes, YouTube thumbnails, video editing, and V-tuber models.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My creative goal is to present my audience with something new and exciting content that they have never experienced through animation and video editing.
How did you build your audience on social media?
“Quantity and Quality” is our strategy for social media. We learned it is preferable to post as often as possible to create the “mere exposure effect” with our viewers. Posting more than two pieces of quality content per day every day helped grow our channel significantly.
