Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Payton Russell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Payton, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In order to be successful or find success in something is to be extremely passionate about it. Constantly wanting to improve, finding new ways to grow and learning from the experiences you have throughout each day. The number one way to thrive in anything is by learning from your mistakes. Nothing goes accordingly, so rolling with the punches and taking each day one day at a time is how I best get to where I want to be and achieve my goals.
Payton, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I moved to Kansas City a year and a half ago and started my company Russell the Brand Balloons. We are a luxury balloon and rental company that works with all types of events such as birthdays, weddings, corporate parties and much more. My company strives to elevate an event space with bright colored balloons and backdrops. Ultimately bringing our clients visions to life.
Recently graduating from college, I wanted to get my foot in the door immediately and start something of my own. Being able to use and create fresh new ideas in the event industry has truly helped put my name on the map. I have been working extremely hard to bring new ideas to my clients that no other balloon artist has which has been so rewarding.
I am always planning and working on new masterpieces for my clients and I am very excited to see what comes next this year for Russell the Brand Balloons.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
This year I have been extremely focused on adding more to each one of my events. By giving a little extra to all of my clients it allows them to feel special and appreciated. I love going above and beyond because it draws my clients in and shows that we as a company want each one of the events we’re working with to exceed the expectations that our clients had.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn how to be some what of a perfectionist. I used to focus so much on making each detail perfect, the delivery process perfect and the set up perfect that I was driving myself crazy. At the end of the day, each installation we did turned out amazing and just how it was supposed to. Therefore, that’s all that mattered. Other people don’t notice the tiniest imperfections, and sometimes those small imperfections are what make it beautiful.
