We were lucky to catch up with Payton Rademacher recently and have shared our conversation below.
Payton, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve had a camera in my hand as long as I can remember. With encouragement and support from my mother, grandmother and husband I decide to go for it and pursue my dream of starting my photography business.

Payton, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a Photographer and Graphic Designer living in Minnesota who specializes in lifestyle photography. Also known as a nature lover, coffee addict, a dog person, I love to have my camera in my hand. I am absolutely passionate about what I do! For me, it is about so much more than taking pictures. It is about capturing those special moments that will last a lifetime.
I took a risk and started my business in the spring of 2020 during the pandemic by using Instagram. I wanted to see how much people enjoyed my photography before I jump into a full business adventure. My Instagram followers grew very fast in a short time, so I decided to build my own website and created business cards. After a few months, more clients reached out and I grew the network from there.
I enjoy outdoor shots of families big or small. It is fun to capture the personalities all in one shot. I also enjoy taking maternity, newborn, engagement, single person, creative art, costume, family, pets with it’s owner photos, etc. You name it, I will try it as long as it’s not dangerous. 😊
After two years, I am proud to say that I have a good solid business but with a new goal and that is to have my own studio. I know someday I will.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Networking. This word says it all. I am trying to build a good relationship with clients and encourage them to spread the word to their friends, loved ones, coworkers, and others. Social Media opportunities like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and my website are necessary for people to see my brands and style of photographer I am.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I am still hustling my business as my nights and weekends career. I will eventually become a full- time photographer and own my own studio.
