We were lucky to catch up with Paulishia Augillard recently and have shared our conversation below.
Paulishia , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
In working with physicians, it is important to create a safe space to allow for expression of thoughts without having the pressure to be perfect. My best client advice given is self-worthiness does not equal perfection. Self-Worth is based on how you see yourself from the inside out.
.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have worked in the mental health field for over 20 years and have always had a passion for helping others reach their full potential. I am a licensed professional counselor-supervisor and marriage and family therapist in the state of Texas. My experience also includes CEO of Polly Clinical Services LLC, best-selling author, motivational speaker, trainer, and podcaster. My focus in working with clients has always been a transformative process that brings about clarity and acceptance. I currently provide online mental health and coaching services to physicians who struggle with stress, anxiety, and burnout. Polly Clinical Services LLC current programs are: RESTORE, Breakthrough 2.0, HealthDrips Podcast, and Grow & Glow College Student Internship.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of the pivotal moments in my entrepreneurial journey was during the pandemic. I had setup my business in a beautiful brick and mortar for the first few years of being in private practice. When the pandemic hit, I began seeing a rapid decline for in-person appointments which meant a reduction in revenue and staffing. I decided to close down my office and rebranded my business to virtual mental health and coaching services. I invested in a business coach and began to see an increase of client appointments and greater opportunities to collaborate with community partners.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the lessons that I had to unlearn is how I was trained to show up in my practice. In going through graduate school, there was not a big emphasis on running a business. When I first started in private practice, I attempted to emulate all of the corporate training, leadership methods, and perfect corporate culture. This left me feeling overwhelmed and not attracting the clients that I wanted to serve. My lesson in this was the same that I encourage my clients with: As long as you honor who you are from the inside-out, authenticity will shine through.
