Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Pauline Sala. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Pauline, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I was born and raised in France. When I was a little girl , I always knew I was going to move to America, my intuition was telling me that it was where I was meant to be. I always hated school growing up, especially all the homework we were given but in high school, I had the goal in mind to go to college in America so I started putting all of my time and effort to achieve this goal! I then moved to Florida to attend school in 2018 all by myself (my parents helped me move but they went back to France afterwards of course). And now ,5 years later, I live in Venice Beach CALIFORNIA and am married to an amazing man and am living my life to the fullest! So I am so grateful that I have taken the risk to move to the US by myself at 18 years old!
Pauline, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Pauline , I went to school for acting for about 12 years and always loved anything related to art! In November 2021, I was going through a lot and was lost, by myself in Los Angeles. One day, I felt called to buy a carver surfskate with no prior skate history haha. I fell in love with surfskating, it became my passion and my therapy! I would spend everyday in Venice from sunrise to sunset, tryin to teach myself how to skate! Past Forward a couple months into skating , I started being scouted for modeling jobs! I never thought I could model since I am only 5”3 but turns out print modeling does not really care about your height! I also started taking my social media seriously and started to post surfskating content to share a little of my world with my family in France and my followers! If you want to see a little bit of my world here are my socials: IG : @myworldaspauline and TIKTOK: @myworldaspauline_
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would say I have two main goals when it comes to posting on social media! The first one is sharing and spreading positivity and good vibes and the second one is to show anyone who wants to start skateboarding , that it does not matter how old you are , how small or big you are….I love showing that it is possible to be a girl skateboarding and still wear cute dresses, skirts… whatever makes you feel beautiful and fierce! Everyone I had a place in this world,! What matters at the end of the day is having fun!
Have you ever had to pivot?
I always thought I was going to be an actress ( I still love acting of course) but when I moved to LA, I realized how many people want to be actors and how tough it is to pursue this career! So I kind of started thinking about other passions that I have! When I first started surfskating, I never knew it would lead me to start modeling! Modeling is very similar to acting which is why I love it so much! And I also love making content because editing and creating videos is soo much fun! So in some ways, I am still doing things that include a little bit of acting but if you would have told me 2 years ago that I would not be dedicating all my time and efforts into acting and would be Surfskating modeling and creating content, I would have never believed you!
