We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Pauline Dillon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Pauline, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I would say, my mission seeks to help restore life and hope to persons from all walks of life, especially those who are hurting, wounded in spirit, in despair and feeling hopeless. My desire to do this is because, I feel a call to hurting people, it is my passion to help those persons to heal in every area of their emotions. With healthy emotions one can do so much. they can find and fulfil their purpose. Know that their are always second or whatever chances they need in this journey called life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, I am Pauline Dillon, a former ward of the state which means, my mother gave me away to the government at the tender age of seven years old. This is like a group home. Growing up in that organization was hard, because there were children from different back grounds and not having the skills how to cope in a situation like that was very hard. So after I left that government home I started thinking about ways to help children who found themselves in those kind of situations who might be feeling hopeless like I did and hurting most of the time. Thankfully while I was still in that organization I met the Lord Jesus Christ and this is how it became better for me and I was able to heal in a lot of ways. I started going to church, attend Bible study and was led to a small group of caring persons who helped me to find strategies to cope. My work at Jamaica Youth for Christ is what I am most proud of, I worked with children and adults from different social background and was able to help restore hope to most in many ways. Taught social skills, held parenting seminars and most of all to help them find purpose and true meaning to living and continue on life’s journey. And in recent time I have written two books, one telling my story which is helping many persons.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
Funding my business was a big challenge, one of the first thing, and very necessary to do was to write a business plan. So after doing that. I also discovered that the banks do not give no name persons loans, meaning if they do not know about you, they will not give you a loan. So I started out by using my savings and acquiring a small gift from a friend.
How did you build your audience on social media?
Social media can be tricky, However, this I have discovered I have to be deliberate about, and taking it step by step. Marketing of all forms is very big and one of the ways I have been able to sell my Brand/books is by word of mouth, just simply sharing with persons what I do. Using the other platforms I am real when I share my post, my practise is to post daily. I try to utilize most if not all of the platforms which is great, Do email marketing, set up my website this is where I can offer free gifts, give out freebie this sure help me to get new your clients.
