In 2017, the devastating Tubbs wildfire left Pauline and her family with nothing but an angel statue on what used to be their front porch. During the process of rebuilding and redecorating, Pauline realized that the home products she desired were few and far between. When she did find something she loved, the price was either outrageous or the quality was lacking.
Maria, Pauline’s mother, is an experienced seamstress, and Andrew, Pauline’s father, has been a woodworker most of his life. They began making items for their daughter’s new home, and before long, Peyton Kane Home was born. Pauline has always loved design, and is in marketing for her full-time job. She brought the vision for the brand, and worked with her parents to bring the products to life.

At Peyton Kane Home, our journey began with a desire to challenge the fast-fashion approach to home décor found in many large retailers. After the devastating Tubbs wildfire in 2017, my family and I realized the lack of high-quality, beautiful home products that didn’t come with an exorbitant price tag. We wanted to create something classic, durable, and accessible to many, and most importantly, something we could be proud of.
We specialize in crafting artisanal home décor items, with our signature products being our pillow cover collections and handmade wood kitchen utensils. Each piece is meticulously crafted with the finest materials, combining the expertise of my mother’s seamstress skills and my father’s lifelong experience in woodworking.
We found that many of our clients were unsure how to begin designing their spaces, so we started offering personalized design services. Clients can send us pictures of their rooms, and we provide tailored options for pillow designs and more. This service has been incredibly successful, giving our clients the confidence to make purchase decisions that they feel good about.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
When we started Peyton Kane Home, I had one child, and now I’m pregnant with baby number three! Balancing motherhood with a full-time job and running a side business has required a lot of creativity and adaptability. Initially, our business relied heavily on in-person pop-ups and artisan shows to build our brand and reach customers. However, as my family grew and my time became more limited, I realized I needed to pivot our approach to keep the business thriving.
I decided to delve into the world of digital marketing to optimize our webstore, newsletter, and social media presence. This transition has been a steep learning curve, but it’s been essential in supplementing the in-person events we can attend. Embracing digital marketing has allowed us to reach a wider audience and maintain steady growth, even with a busy and evolving schedule.
This pivot has not only expanded our reach but also enhanced our ability to connect with customers in meaningful ways. It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey, demonstrating the importance of flexibility and continuous learning in business.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been a combination of word of mouth, social media, and showcasing the unique quality of our products. Every time I participate in a show, I hear customers remark on how beautiful and high-quality our products are, often suggesting that I should charge more for them. I love hearing this feedback because it affirms our mission to provide exceptional value.
Word of mouth has been incredibly powerful for us. When customers share their positive experiences with friends and family, it creates a ripple effect that attracts new clients who appreciate our craftsmanship and dedication.
Growing our social media presence has been a slower process, but I believe in quality over quantity. I’d rather have fewer followers with high engagement than a large number of followers with minimal interaction. This allows us to build a loyal community that values our products and connects with our brand on a deeper level. It’s an area I continue to work on, focusing on genuine interactions and meaningful content that resonates with our audience.
