Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paulina. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paulina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been one of the most interesting investments you’ve made – and did you win or lose? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Taking risks is very important in this industry. The risk I’m most proud of was deciding to start releasing my music without waiting for it to be “perfect”. The moment I realized that, I felt so liberated. I decided to meet myself where I’m at and make the music that feels right to the Paulina of this time and space. And I encourage everyone to do the same. A lot of amazing opportunities have come my way since taking this risk. I had the opportunity to attend the Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami, and was subsequently named, by Billboard, an emerging artist on their radar. A lot of great things happen when you put yourself out there and choose to believe in yourself. It’s not easy, but it is so so worth it.
Paulina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello again! I’m Paulina, a singer songwriter and actress from Puerto Rico who is ready to take the world by storm. I put everything I have into my craft so that it feels vulnerable and real and helps the listeners identify better with my music. If you’re looking for your next favorite indie pop artist, look no further.
It’s crazy to think I took this plunge this year and then my first single, Dejarlo ir, reached 11k streams in just 3 months of its release. Then my second single, Sin rumbo, surpassed 18k streams in 3 months. I also released my first music video for my first single, Dejarlo ir, with Monovisión, a group of amazing puerto rican filmmakers. And, it was also published as a recommended song to add to your playlist by Billboard. I am currently working on my first EP, Instantes, that is to be released this next year.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The community in Tik Tok is a great example of how we can better support our artists. Everyone in the platform knows how the algorithm works and so people go out of their way to comment, like and share someone’s video. I think we’re subconsciously building that sense of community again, which is very needed in this individualistic society we’re living in. With that being said, what we can all do is keep supporting each other more. Stream the artists’ song, add it to a playlist, go to their shows, and if you can’t go to their show, share their content. Someone in your circle might see it and then this artist gains a new follower that they probably wouldn’t have reached without your help. For the creative ecosystem to thrive, there has to be an intrinsic sense of community in each of us. It is so easy to show up for others so I invite each and every one of you to support your local artists. Let’s thrive together.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
One of my goals has always been to create art that people can relate to, art people can use as an outlet, or as the expression of the feelings they can’t voice. I try to do this in both of my crafts: in acting and songwriting. I love telling honest stories and help give a voice to the voiceless. I’ve known all too well how it feels to be trapped in your mind and not know how to express those bottled up feelings, so when someone writes to me and tells me they connected with my song, or they cried to my song, I feel so happy. My hope is that my songs are able to accompany people so they feel less alone and can use my music as an outlet for their feelings.
