We were lucky to catch up with Paula Morris recently and have shared our conversation below.
Paula, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
When I was a child, my dad worked for many years as a family photographer and I think that’s when I started to be curious about photography. Growing up I never really had a vision or a plan for my life. I never wanted to go to college so I didn’t know what to do with my life. In 2009, when I was only 19 years old, I moved from Brazil to Italy and there I bought my first DSLR camera and started photographing everything in front of me. I was inspired by the breathtaking views of lakes and mountains that surrounded me. That’s when my passion for photography really started. Fast forward to 2016, when I felt that my life needed another change, I moved to the USA.
I encountered many challenges but learned SO much! Living in 3 completely different countries, learning 2 new languages and different cultures made me see the world in a different way. I had multiple jobs in the first 3 years living in the US but it was while working as a nanny of 3 kids that I was able to develop my photography skills photographing people.
At the beginning I didn’t know what I was doing but I new I wanted to learn more and take it to the next level. I asked a lot of friends to model for me and also posted on the internet looking for people interested in being in front of my camera so I could perfect my photography style. I knew I loved photography but I never truly believed in myself. I didn’t think that I could do it for a living.
In 2020 I got married and made choices that came with new challenges like moving to another city and leaving my nannying job. I finally decided to take that opportunity to officially start my photography business. Being an adventurous person, and lover of the outdoors, I immediately knew that I wanted my business to represent who I am. My mission is to document people’s wedding day in an artistic and intimate way, creating images that make them experience the emotions all over again.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I’m Paula Morris, I was born and raised in Brazil. I’m an elopement and destination wedding photographer, based in the South Coast of Massachusetts. I’m an adventurous person and love spending time outdoors, hiking, traveling, exploring new places and meeting new people!
I serve authentic adventurous people who want to have an amazing wedding experience that represents who they are as a couple and aren’t afraid of being creative and thinking outside the box.
I pride myself on making people comfortable in front of my camera and having fun at their session/wedding day. I love to work with my couples to create a mix of intimate, artistic + candid images that brings them right back to the moments. Images that they’ll feel proud of hanging on their walls!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Leaving my country, family, friends and all I knew behind to seek a new and better life. Moving from one country to another and then another made me the person I am today. I see the world with different eyes now, and I understand things in a different way. The countless challenges I had to face made me the strong woman I am today and gave me the ability to adapt to any situation I’m in.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I didn’t have a lot of money saved to start my business, but I decided to take the plunge despite feeling nervous. There was definitely anxiety – feeling like I started too late, didn’t have enough clients, and fear of failure. I would suggest to someone considering starting something new to embrace the change and understand that it is never too late to start something new.
