Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paula Marie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Paula thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
One of the projects that holds great meaning to me is the creation and publication of my journal called “Journaling Through Grief.” This journal serves as a valuable tool for navigating the challenging journey of grieving the loss of a loved one. Initially, I wrote it as a personal means to process the profound loss of my mother, but I am gratified to see that it has also provided solace and support to others who have experienced similar losses. It is truly a remarkable feeling to know that something born out of such difficulty can be instrumental in offering assistance to others in their healing process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Sure! I’m Paula Marie. As an author, speaker, and realtor, I’ve had the privilege of exploring various creative pursuits while offering valuable products and services to my clients. Writing has always been a passion of mine, leading me to author numerous books and journals that delve into personal growth, self-improvement, and conquering challenges. We all have our own personal story and by sharing our journey, obstacles, and insight we can help others. The reason I became an author is the desire to help others.
One of my recent books, “Kick Ass and Have a Life,” is an intimate account of my own battle with workaholism. Through this deeply personal story, I openly share the experiences and lessons I learned on my path to self-discovery. The book emphasizes the significance of time as our most precious resource and provides practical insights on achieving a harmonious work-life balance.
As an author and speaker, my primary objective is to inspire and guide individuals facing similar challenges. I aim to empower them, helping them realize their ability to transform their lives and find a healthier equilibrium between work and personal pursuits. By sharing my personal journey, I aspire to encourage others to reevaluate their priorities and make positive changes for their overall well-being.
What sets me apart in my industry is my unique approach to time management. Having personally lost years to overworking, I developed a comprehensive system and mindset that foster a harmonious relationship with time and career. I find immense joy in debunking the belief that success requires relentless work and sacrifice of family, friends, and personal life. Through my message, I hope to help others embrace a more fulfilling and balanced approach to achieving their goals.
The impact I’ve had on people’s lives is what fills me with the most pride. Hearing stories from readers who have found solace, motivation, and guidance in my books brings me great fulfillment. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my personal journey and the lessons I’ve learned have resonated with others, helping them overcome their own challenges.
To those who have supported me throughout my journey as an author, I want to express my sincere gratitude. My work is driven by an earnest desire to uplift and empower individuals. Whether you seek personal growth, inspiration, or support, I am here to provide assistance and share the insights I’ve gained along my own path. My brand embodies authenticity, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to helping others live their best lives.
Thank you for allowing me to share my story, and I genuinely hope that my experiences can positively impact the lives of others in a meaningful way.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
That is a great question! A lesson that I had to unlearn was the belief that my worth as an individual was tied solely to my achievements and external validation. Coming from a place of lack, where the belief that success requires working all the time is deeply ingrained, was a significant hurdle in my personal journey. Like many driven individuals, I initially bought into the notion that constant busyness and sacrificing my personal life were necessary ingredients for achieving success. This belief system was driven by fear – fear of not being enough, fear of failure, and fear of missing out on opportunities.
However, as I immersed myself in my work and continuously neglected other areas of my life, I started experiencing the negative consequences. My relationships suffered, my health deteriorated, and I felt an overwhelming sense of emptiness despite my professional achievements. It was in these moments of reflection and realization that I understood the need for a fundamental shift in my belief system.
To create lasting change, I had to challenge the notion that success was solely defined by working tirelessly. I had to redefine success on my own terms, embracing a holistic perspective that encompassed all aspects of my life. It required acknowledging that time is a finite resource, and by pouring all my energy solely into work, I was depriving myself of the joys and fulfillment found in personal relationships, self-care, and pursuing passions outside of work.
Changing my belief system required a deep exploration of my values and priorities. I had to confront the fear of scarcity and recognize that I could achieve success without sacrificing my well-being or neglecting the people and activities that brought me joy. I discovered that true success lies in the alignment of personal fulfillment, meaningful relationships, and professional accomplishments.
Through this transformation, I developed a new perspective, understanding that investing time and energy into all aspects of my life not only enhanced my overall well-being but also contributed positively to my professional success. By honoring my personal needs, setting boundaries, and cultivating a healthy work-life balance, I became more productive, creative, and resilient.
Today, I advocate for a paradigm shift, encouraging others to challenge the belief that overworking is the only path to success. I strive to help individuals overcome the scarcity mindset that fuels workaholism and embrace a more balanced approach. I want them to recognize that success is multifaceted and can be achieved while nurturing relationships, prioritizing self-care, and pursuing passions outside of work.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Absolutely! I love self-help books. There are a couple of books that have significantly impacted me. One such book is “You Are a Badass” by Jen Sincero, which offers a fresh and bold perspective on personal development, self-belief, and creating a life of abundance. Sincero’s honest and humorous writing style resonated with me, and her insights helped me overcome self-doubt, embrace my strengths, and cultivate a mindset of empowerment and resilience.
Another impactful book is “The Audacity to Be Queen” by Gina DeVee. This empowering book provides a roadmap for women to embrace their feminine power, own their worth, and create a life of abundance and purpose. DeVee’s guidance and personal anecdotes helped me tap into my inner strength, break free from limiting beliefs, and step into a leadership role with confidence and authenticity. “The Audacity to Be Queen” inspired me to redefine success on my own terms and embrace my unique path as an entrepreneur.
In addition to these books, I’ve gained valuable insights and inspiration from podcasts featuring thought leaders and entrepreneurs. Listening to their stories and advice has been incredibly relatable and impactful in shaping my management and entrepreneurial thinking. Podcasts such as Glennon Doyle, We can do hard things have provided me with practical strategies, success stories, and valuable perspectives.
There are so many talented people sharing their insight, personal development is an ongoing journey. I continue to explore new books, podcasts, and other resources to expand my knowledge, challenge my perspectives, and improve my business and personal life. x
