We recently connected with Paul Thayer and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Paul thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful, I believe it takes a combination of belief and drive. First you must believe in what you are doing and what you are offering. If you don’t care about your product or service, how can you expect others to? For me, I believed in myself and my vision to create a comic book that people would enjoy and I made it happen. The other half of that is drive. No one taught me how to create a comic book, write a script, or market and sell the product. I was determined to figure it out on my own. I took the initiative to learn every step of the process, from creation to publishing. I even built my own publishing company from the ground up and it doesn’t stop there. I am also responsible for selling my product. This is where belief and drive come full circle. I attend conventions across the United States to promote my comic book, connecting directly with fans. By selling directly through conventions and our website, I’ve been able to build a more personal relationship with my audience and offer them something truly great.

Paul, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am Paul Thayer the publisher of Visual Vibration, the creator and writer for comic book series Project Naosis, Omega 2090, and Crimson Payne. We have 9 comic books published in our company with 4 more in production. In every book within the company, I have written and hired amazing artists to work on each issue.
All of the comic books that have released under our publishing company are in the World of Naosis where in this universe there are is no multiverse or do-overs and the stakes are always high in this superhero adventure.
I am most proud of the community we have built up who have been supporting this series as we had our biggest pre-order launch to date with our latest issue Project Naosis Episode 5 which was $4,421 on Kickstarter. Our model with crowdfunding is different then others as we have frequently released quartly and fulfill all orders in 1-3 months.
My biggest accomplishment was exhibiting at New York Comic Con where we had a great impact and was the only creator to be featured Forbes for my comic books and booth.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
I initially was able to start my business by working a full time sales job to support myself and the business until the business became stable enough to do full-time.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My advice is to frequently post and to post things that keep people’s attention while building your brand. I am constantly pivoting to create new posts to bring in new eyes to the products.
