Paul, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?

This is a question i get a lot and very few people actually get close to deciphering the meaning at first glance. FinesseTheAgency is a derivative of NigerianFinesse and that in turn is a derivative of me. The amount of curve balls life has thrown my way would probably strike out the average person but when you’re able to handle things with finesse the way i’ve learned to then you begin to succeed in places set up for you to fail. I give a lot of credit to my parents for the way they raised me and i know a lot of what makes me who i am is rooted in Nigerian principles and morals which is why NigerianFinesse is fitting. The agency is an extension of me and i plan on eventually becoming the one stop shop for all your short term rental needs when you’re in my city. With the agency being an extension of myself and me being NigerianFinesse, FinesseTheAgency LLC becomes self explanatory. I am the agency.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Paul Soetan, I was born in New York but i moved to Florida for a while at a young age before eventually moving to Nigeria for high school. I am currently a graduate student at The Florida International University as well as the Chief Executive Officer of FinesseTheAgency LLC (FTA). FinesseTheAgency is a short term rental company where locals and tourists can rent Yachts, Luxurious vehicles and eventually housing spaces. This all started in the Fall of 2021 when i decided i wanted to upgrade the vehicle i was driving at the time which was an Hyundai Elantra to something more attractive. I knew i wanted a new vehicle but at the same time i did not want to pay for the new vehicle. I got on youtube and started searching for ways to not pay for my own car and i stumbled upon the car rental industry. I ended up educating myself on credit and how the financial institutions operate and i was able to purchase 7 personal vehicles in under a year and i have gained access to over 15 vehicles and 14 Yachts to add to the fleet through business relationships. I think what sets me apart from a lot of people is the fact that i’m an action taker. It’s one thing to understand the concept of how things should work but to actually get up and do it is a whole other ball game. Thats where i differentiate myself from the average person. I just makes things happen. If theres anything i could tell anybody aspiring to get to where i’ve gotten to is that the the only limitations in life are the ones you put on yourself. Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

My audience is still growing but for the most part i just try to post as much content as possible. Anything from aesthetically pleasing car videos to videos with promotional rates to customer review videos gets the job done for now. I also do a lot of in person networking and i either hand out a business card at the end of my interactions or just tell them to follow the instagram so they stay current on all promotions.

Have you ever had to pivot?

I started of on the STEM path with my education and i have been to several engineering conventions because i though i wanted to be a civil engineer. After bagging my first internship i knew that was not the work life i wanted for myself and i started looking into other things. The COVID era gave me a lot of time to just look into other things and really research the ins and outs of my business so it eventually led to where i am today. I am also pursuing an MBA in Business Data Analytics now.
