Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paul Hoyle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paul, appreciate you joining us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I always wanted to be able to make a living as a full time Music Producer and Songwriter. I knew that I had to master many disciplines, from understanding music theory to playing many instruments, to understanding Audio Recording and Engineering. So I started Mechanical and Electrical Engineering where I was born, Lima Peru, while I playing with bands and getting my taste in writing music and performing. When I was ready for the next step, I applied to Berklee College of Music in Boston, and I started my Production career in 1980. After graduation I was able to move with my family to Miami, where I started playing in Clubs, and establishing myself as a studio musician and arranger. I created a very basic recording studio at home, and started creating demos for many songwriters. I got to meet everyone in the record labels and started to place my songs for recording artist. It was amazing to be able to hear my songs on the radio with the artist that recorded my originals. Some of them got to be on top of the charts, and then I started to get calls to write and produce new artist. Luckily it has been a continuous source of income.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I feel that when the artist I am producing get the success they deserve, is when I feel the success in my work
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
Since I started as a bass player, I wish I found the piano earlier in my career. Now I am a session piano player, but I had to struggle with practicing hours every day while I was working full time as a bass player.
