Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Paul Goldbacher. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Paul , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
In the 1980’s I worked at a florist as the assistant to the head floral designer. During this time I pursued an education and worked at various florists and landscape design firms in the NY metro area.
Paul , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My career began early as a child. I felt that I was always connected to the outdoors and the living earth. I studied horticulture, interior design and culinary arts early in my career which set the stage to where I am today. I’ve had the opportunity to live and work in NYC for almost 20 years. During this time I worked in hospitality and the Architecture & Design industry. Covid was a huge game changer and allowed for me to transition to Upstate NY from NYC as a full time resident. During this time I established Hudson River Valley Gardens. HRV Gardens assists in managing all levels of garden design management. Our focus is garden design, restoration, installations, hardscape and one of a kind garden sculptures. . Some of the most rewarding projects are those that require thinking outside of the box.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by nature and the diverse communities in and throughout the Hudson Valley and beyond. . It’s easy to connect as well as disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life which helps recharge and reset the creative thinking process.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
There are no major resources that I wish that I know about other than to go with what feels right. Life is all about taking a chance or a leap of faith. My resources are driven by the people that I choose to include in my circle of friends. That doesn’t mean just creatives. It also includes friends, family and the community in which I live. Living in NYC was probably the biggest influence in my life both personally and professionally.
