We were lucky to catch up with Paul Colson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Paul, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
It’s alway been a dream of mine since a little boy to give back. It actually started with an idea of giving away free turkeys for Thanksgiving. As I gotten older, I pondered the idea around and thought to myself, I have to do more than turkeys. I’m sure there’s more ways out there to touch families other than Thanksgiving. I then begin to form my foundation with the idea of inspiring hope and change through the programs I was going to put out in the universe. Many people are ashamed to ask for help without being put on blast or just don’t know the first step in getting help so I wanted to be that resource for them. Fast forward to today, my nonprofit charity organization has been nominated and awarded the best nonprofit organization of 2022 in Boynton Beach.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My name is Paul Colson and I’m the founder & CEO of The Paul Colson Foundation. My foundation is a nonprofit charity organization where we aim to raise awareness through education, youth and families facing the plight of hunger. Throughout the year, we have many events that can help make an impact in families facing hardship. Our events include back to school drives (where we give away book bags filled with school supplies), turkey drives (free turkeys and meals for Thanksgiving) and toy drives (free brand new toys for Christmas) just to name a few. My clients/customers pay close attention to the detail and quality of my events and that’s what set me apart from the other organizations giving back. Hearing families tell me how much I made a difference in their life during their hardship or without my services, they don’t know how they would’ve had holiday dinner- makes my heart melt. I feel my job is well done and I’m doing what I’m destined to do. My foundation does not discriminate and our services are open to all from different races and backgrounds.
Any advice for managing a team?
Get a team that’s as passionate about your vision as you are. Good communication and dependability are my key factors that I look for when building a team. I have a small but dedicated and loyal team. They are my support system and help me pick up the pieces when I can’t.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Just like any other business owner, I funded my business out of pocket in the beginning. I put $5000 aside and started out doing fundraising events such as pop up shops. It worked out for the best because it gained my business so much revenue and exposure where I was able to walk away from the fundraiser aspects of it.
