Hi Paul A., thanks for joining us today. So, let’s start with trends – what are some of the largest or more impactful trends you are seeing in the industry?
Web design, search engine optimization (SEO), and social media are all seeing a ‘user first’ revolution. Fake news, keyword stuffing, unhelpful backlinks, and unethical practices were prevalent online. All this negativity may have helped content rank higher in search results in the past, but no longer! These nefarious acts got out of hand, producing confusion, panic, poor content, and horrible user experiences across search engine platforms worldwide.
Google recognized these challenges and aimed to improve its algorithm to better evaluate the credibility and quality of online content and introduced E-A-T in March of 2014. E-A-T stands for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
Google made SEO headlines in December of 2022 when they announced the extra E, for Experience, making the industry acronym E-E-A-T. Google continues to update its algorithm throughout the year, with its latest November 2023 Core Update, continuing the journey for a helpful and more trustworthy content experience.
Many ask what’s the difference between experience and expertise?
As my SEO colleague, Lily Ray with Amsive and I often explain from Google’s own search quality guidelines…
Experience is someone who’s been through cancer. Expertise would be an Oncologist who diagnoses, prescribes, & determines the course of action & treatment plan for cancer.
Paul A., before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Recently, on the Family Business Radio podcast, I shared how God gave me the vision of graphic design in bright lights with flashing bulbs all around it like a Broadway style billboard and starting Zanardo Dezignz, LLC in 2015 before earning my degree in Graphic Design.
What I didn’t share was my creative background around building Lego sets on the floor of my dad’s architecture firm from the early age of 8 years old.
As my dad, Scott Zanardo of Zanardo Architects, P.C. designed large-scale medical buildings, I had my own big aspirations to build, design, and be creative just like him in hopes of earning his respect and making him proud.
After a long, selfishly indulgent, depressing, and financially successful career in construction, sales, and marketing, I realized money was not the answer to my happiness. Raised as a Christian, I knew what needed to be done… I finally surrendered to God’s will and haven’t looked back, pleasing both my dad and God in the process!

Our source of new clients has always been a combination of prayer, a well optimized website & Google Business Profile, strong social media presence with genuine engagement, and in person networking.
Think of social media as a networking event. If you go and pass out business cards and talk about yourself the whole time, you’ll lose. It’s plain rude. Likewise, if someone speaks to you, hopefully you’ll speak back in a helpful and respectful way. It’s human decency! Social media is no different. When someone comments on your post, comment back.
Take this a step further…
Visit other social media pages and comment with fruitful engagement for the biggest impact on your social media investment. This is where the real magic of digital marketing happens!
Notice I mentioned prayer first. All these elements are equally significant and there’s no cutting corners or shortcuts.
