We were lucky to catch up with Paty recently and have shared our conversation below.
Paty , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I have ever worked on is Duet Paty & Leo, my life project that I share both artistically and personally with my partner, guitarist Leo Testoni. We first met while studying music in São Paulo, Brazil. Years later, by a beautiful twist of fate, we reunited on stage during a major performance with a well-known band. That moment brought back special memories and sparked the idea of creating something of our own.
In 2020, while we were traveling in Utah and later in Los Angeles for the NAMM Show, we officially launched Duet Paty & Leo. Just a few months later, the world completely changed due to the pandemic. Our shows and plans were canceled, and suddenly everything was uncertain. We had to ask ourselves, now what?
We decided not to wait. We took our project online. We started weekly live shows on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, and soon we were performing daily on Twitch. People were isolated at home, searching for connection, and music became a bridge. That experience inspired another idea, personalized video serenades. Families and friends could send love through music even when they were apart. In one year, we recorded more than 200 serenades, each filled with emotion and purpose.
That challenging time became the foundation of our duo. We recorded our first album, “Da Nossa Terra”, now available on all streaming platforms, and embraced the dream of performing beyond borders. After the pandemic, Leo received a full scholarship to pursue his Master’s in Guitar Performance in the US. We moved to Utah, and two years later, we relocated to Los Angeles, where we continue to grow our project and bring Brazilian jazz with a classic touch to unforgettable events.
Soon, we will release our original single, a song about the adventure of moving to a new country and choosing to truly live instead of only dreaming. We also have an upcoming concert at The Merc in Temecula on January 16, and we cannot wait to meet everyone who has followed our journey.
For us, Duet Paty & Leo is more than music. It represents resilience, creativity, and a deep belief in the power of love and art, even in the most challenging moments.

Paty , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Paty Fernandes, a Brazilian singer and vocal coach based in Los Angeles. Music has been in my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up surrounded by music, and the stage has always felt like home. Over the years, I have developed a versatile career that has brought me to concerts, TV shows, large venues, intimate events, and now to the creation of my own artistic identity.
Today, my main project is Duet Paty & Leo, a voice and guitar duo that I lead alongside my partner, guitarist and producer Leo Testoni. We blend our Brazilian roots with jazz and pop influences to create an elegant and heartfelt sound. We perform in multiple languages and love connecting with people from different cultures. Our biggest goal is to make every audience feel happy and experience something real.
We offer a wide range of musical experiences for weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, cultural festivals, and live concerts. We have some themed shows, such as Disney-themed shows or holiday events. Our clients trust us to set the perfect mood for the moments that matter most in their lives, whether that means bringing joy, nostalgia, romance, or sophistication.
What sets us apart is the combination of authenticity, musical excellence, and genuine connection with our audience. Our performances are never generic. We always listen to our clients, understand their vision, and create something that feels personal and memorable. Even during the pandemic, when everything stopped, we found ways to bring people together through music with livestream concerts and over 200 personalized video serenades that helped families celebrate love despite the distance.
We recorded our first album, “Da Nossa Terra”, and have had the opportunity to perform in Brazil, Europe, and the United States. This year, we are releasing our first original single, inspired by the courage to move abroad and build a new chapter from the ground up. We also have upcoming concerts, including our show at The Merc in the Old Town Temecula Community Theater on January 16 at 7:30 PM, where we will present a blend of Brazilian jazz with a classic touch.
For anyone discovering us now, I want them to know that Duet Paty & Leo is much more than a live music act. It is a story of love, resilience, and passion for art. It is about two people who believe that music has the power to connect hearts, celebrate life, and transform any space into a special memory.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Our social media journey began at an unusual time. In early 2020, Duet Paty & Leo was just three months old when the pandemic changed everything. All our shows were canceled, and like many artists, we faced uncertainty. Instead of waiting for things to get better, we decided to bring our music directly to people at home.
We started weekly livestreams on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. Very quickly, we realized how powerful it was to help people feel connected during isolation. We then discovered Twitch and began performing live almost every day. It was a huge learning curve, but it taught us how to engage with audiences online and create a real community.
Today, our social media presence continues to grow as we share performances, behind-the-scenes moments, travel stories, cultural stories, and the mix of Brazilian jazz and pop that defines us. We love showing the joy and passion behind what we do.
For those just starting, remember that growth begins when you take action, so be consistent and show up even if your audience is small in the beginning. Share stories, not only your work, because people connect with emotion and authenticity. Engage with your followers since they can become friends, supporters, and clients. Try new ideas without fear because each platform has its own style. Celebrate every milestone because building a community happens one genuine connection at a time.
Social media opened doors when every stage of life was closed. It allowed us to build a community that still follows our journey today, and we are deeply grateful for that.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My creative journey is driven by the mission of bringing people together through music. I believe music has a unique way of connecting hearts, creating memories, and reminding us that we are not alone. Every performance is a chance to share love, joy, and culture, especially our Brazilian roots blended with jazz and pop influences. My goal is to make each person feel something real, whether they are celebrating a special moment, discovering a new song, or simply needing comfort after a long day. If I can touch someone’s life through my voice and create a moment that stays with them, that is my purpose as an artist.
