We recently connected with Patty Andrews and have shared our conversation below.
Patty, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. It’s easy to look at a business or industry as an outsider and assume it’s super profitable – but we’ve seen over and over again in our conversation with folks that most industries have factors that make profitability a challenge. What’s biggest challenge to profitability in your industry?
Early on in my life, I found a passion to work out. I enjoy it makes me feel while working out and love to see the results along the way. There is a profit to be made in this industry but the main hurdle I found is that the future clients or anyone that shows interest has to want it. This industry is also seasonal. People want to start at the beginning of the year, and then it trickles down and stops during the holidays. Working out is beneficial to everyone but that statement alone doesn’t sell the cause.
Just like with anything, a person has to be ready to start this journey, you can’t make them do it. Intentions are always great but it’s the actions that make a person successful.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a wife and mom and I get to change lives for a living, which is not only a privilege but incredibly fulfilling and rewarding. The fitness journey looks different for everyone. Whether you’re just getting started or need some motivation back in the game, you’ll find I create customized meal guides and workouts to help you reach your goal and to help you stay on track. Not a fad or a quick fix, a lifestyle! Getting in shape is not meant to be a torturous endeavor. There may be a sore muscle or two along the way, but I believe getting fit should be enjoyed, not dreaded.
As a fully qualified and accredited trainer, I firmly believe in the positive benefits that fitness can bring to all areas of our lives.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I graduated college at 24 with a Bachelor’s degree in Radiation Therapy. I worked at Methodist University for 15 years as a radiation therapist. When I got pregnant with my daughter I decided I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom.
I knew I wanted to do something else and since I’ve loved and enjoyed working out, I decided to get my personal training certification.
This allows me to be at home for my daughter and pursue my interest in the fitness industry.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Not only am I surrounded with my loving family but I also have a great circle of friends who have helped me get the word out. The encouragement I have received from both friends and family keep me going.
Instagram has also been so helpful reaching people I may not have come in contact with otherwise.
