We recently connected with Patrick Regan and have shared our conversation below.
Patrick, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
I feel like I borrow from both of my parents in how I carry myself professionally. My mother is a great listener/communicator, and I have needed those skills in my career. My father has always been fair and honest, which are equally important traits in my field.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I practice massage therapy out of The Well, which is a massage and acupuncture clinic in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore.
I borrow from eastern and western philosophies, and always treat clients from an evidence-based approach.
I specialize in treating neck, shoulder, and back issues. I’m proud of the fact that I’ve been able to establish a reputation, and that clients refer one another to my practice.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
In school, they teach massage therapy students that it’s considered crossing boundaries to get to know clients personally. This is a very personal business. You need to know your clients in order to provide the best service and achieve the best outcomes possible. The better you know your client, the better you understand their needs.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
1) Be great at what you do. 2) Have effective communication skills.
3) Encourage clients to share about you.
