Alright, Patrick thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

My brand became a vision in 2018 , I didn’t start to put action behind that vision until 2022. Why wait 4 years ? I believe it was just Gods timing .

In 2022 I officially started my brand Movein5ilence LLC. It was during a time period of my life that I just felt tired of trying to wait for the “right” time to act on something I’ve always wanted to do .

My mission is to promote a positive lifestyle physically , mentally , spiritually and financially using five core values of : faith, loyalty, respect , discipline and sacrifice.

This is very meaningful to me because I feel everyone has a calling in life and I believe God has called me to use my platform to bless others . And I believe I can do that best by using my gifts and talents to help inspire and motivate others. And this is what I’ve been doing with my brand Movein5ilence .

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Patrick Mensah I’m 23 years old , born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. My family is originally from West Africa, Ghana and immigrated to the United States as young adults. I’m a former college football player at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2022 and my MBA in Entrepreneurship in 2024 .

I got into the clothing business in 2022 , it had been something I always wanted to do . One day I got tired of waiting on the “right time” and I began to take action on a vision I truly believed in . My first step was finding a clothing vendor. I was following a guy on Instagram named Tanio Hingle , he had a clothing brand and I really liked the material of his clothes . So, I sent him a DM asking if he could connect me with his vendor and he replied “ Big facts!… Watever u need me to do to help it’s good “.
I believe God works through people and that day God was working through him and I’m forever grateful because he did something a lot of people don’t do these days and that’s simply help the next man out without expecting something in return .

After that encounter I reached out to the vendor and got my first order of sweaters. My brand has been in full effect ever since!

My brand provides high quality casual streetwear clothing . My products are uniquely designed and spread motivational life messages . I believe the clothing industry lacks in providing clothing that are uniquely designed, made with high quality material and sold for an affordable price. I strive to solve this problem by providing clothing that are not only comfortable to wear but also have motivational meaning . I believe that’s what sets me apart from others in the industry.

Honestly, the thing I’m most proud about is that I turned my vision of creating a brand and into a reality. Also , not just a “clothing brand” but a motivational brand that gives hope and inspiration to others . Although , right now my brand only offers clothing , but in due time I plan on offering other essential life items as well.

I want people to believe that anything is possible, and that to turn a vision into reality , you first must trust God and second put the work in . I believe my brand Is a true Testament to that .

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?

Like previously stated my brand became a vision in 2018. It was 2 years later when I made my first order of tee shirts from custom ink.com. The quality of the shirts was not what I was looking for so I decided not sale the shirts but to use them as a giveaway item. Truthfully, I felt a little discouraged because I was really looking forward in getting started with my brand .

I didn’t let that discouragement stop me though, after waiting 2 years I was finally able to find a vendor who could supply the type of quality products I was looking for. I found my vendor by reaching out to a guy I followed on Instagram named Tanio Hingle , he’s a personal trainer who has his own merch . I sent him a DM and he gave me the manufacturers info.

I believe the best way to find the right vendor is to identify what exactly it is you are looking for and speak with about 5-10 different vendors and see which one can best satisfy your needs/ budget.

Some important lessons I’ve learned is to
#1. NEVER SEND THE TOTAL COST OF AN ORDER UPFRONT
If a manufacturer requires you to send the full order cost before receiving your item this is a major red flag and scam alert.

I believe the best thing to do is send 25% advance when the order is beginning then after getting picture proof of the order being in process send another 50% then after order is completed with picture proof and boxed ready to ship send the remaining 25%.

#2. Find Vendors Who Can Specialize In Multiple Areas .
In my experience it’s better to do business with a manufacturer who can off a variety of services. For example my vendor offers a multitude of different clothing items . In addition to that he also does my brand packaging and helps assist with my mockups .

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I believe what has helped to build my reputation within my market are my relentless work ethic , high quality products and my commitment to prioritizing customer satisfaction.
