Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patrick Farrell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Patrick, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
For the longest time, I have want to be a part of a group of people. To feel connected, whole and like I’m part of something bigger than myself. A space where I could be part of something where we are working together to create positive changes in the world and appreciate the magic of the planet that we call our home. Also a space where we can lift each other up to build something that makes the world better each day and where we can leave a positive legacy.
But for the longest time I have felt a bit lonely on this mission. I couldn’t quite put words to it for many years but I really didn’t know how to connect with a space like this or find community. When I first moved to NYC, I remember feeling like this was crazy; I lived in a city of 8 million people yet I didn’t know how to find a place where I fit in.
That ultimately changed when I discovered the first community I felt a part of, the AcroYoga community. When I started going to AcroYoga classes, I immediately started to connect with people that were growth oriented and looking to work together to grow and become better at this activity. It was really one of the first times I connect with a group where we all were there just to have fun and learn new things together, I loved it!
The AcroYoga community became my closest group of friends for a few years while I lived in NYC. We would spend summer days in Central Park working together on new tricks and winter days in the studio taking classes. This was the first time I really felt like I found somewhere where I belonged.
As the 5 years I lived in NYC went by, I realized at some point I felt like I had plateaued in my job and that it was time to move on to something new. It was time to grow and expand past what NYC could offer me at the time; that’s when I made the jump to be part of the Nomad Cruise community.
A group of humans who were looking to build businesses and lifestyles that allowed them to travel around the world and build businesses or freelancing careers from their laptop, literally anywhere on the planet. I knew that this was my path forward and I knew I had to put myself around the right group of people to make it happen.
So that’s what I did, on May 6th, 2016 I quit my job in search of a new adventure. I set my sights on expansion and growth to really build the life I wanted for myself. Yet, I really didn’t know what I was doing at the time, all I knew was that I had to make a jump.
For the next 2-3 years I would spent my time in different countries using photography as a way to travel cheaply by being invited to retreats in places like Thailand, Bali and Mexico. I would learn how to manage groups of people, I would connect with the participants, and I would have a lot of fun myself. Essentially living the dream of traveling to beautiful places, connecting with amazing people, and learning more and more how to be present in the moments of my life.
By 2018/2019, I realized a new calling. I needed to go see how other growth-oriented communities and events were ran. And I had to go learn how to make this lifestyle more stable. That’s when I moved to Los Angeles for 4 months and went to my first Tony Robbins event, Unleash The Power Within (UPW).
That 4 days of my life changed my life forever. It gave me tools to understand where my beliefs and values came from, it helped me understand more about energy, and it helped me being to consciously create my life. From that moment on, I knew I had to live life by design rather than by default. It was the beginning of a new chapter.
After UPW, I felt very guided to go check out other events and communities such as Mindvalley University and Lewis Howe’s Summit of Greatness. I ended the year back with Tony Robbins Date with Destiny.
All these events gave me the foundation to have a very stable mindset and emotional maturity which I’m extremely grateful for as we walked into the changes of 2020.
Every since I started going to all these events and being part of these communities, I realized that there was a space in the world to build my own. I realized how important it was to have more communities in the world that are growth oriented and impact driven. Communities where people are lifting each other up, helping to inspire one another, and help each other feel connected to something bigger than themselves.
That’s where the mission, the dream and the purpose of Light Club has come from. A space for people to connect with others that are going to help them shine their light and create a fulfilling life at the same time.
Patrick, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I got into this business of self-transformation, coaching and community building by being a part of it myself. I explored the world and went to countless personal development events that helped me realize more about who I am and who I am meant to become in this world.
I tried new things, I met people, and I took a lot of conscious actions to create the life I have today. And I want to help others do the same.
Through my coaching programs and masterminds, I world with individuals who want to build extremely clarity around who they are and their soul mission on Earth. To help them believe that all of their drives are possible and to help them accomplish those dreams in a fraction of the time compared to if they tried to do it themselves.
I also help my clients and community members to build epic personal brands and showcase their talent to the world through social media platforms and internet marketing. I want to help others create the impact they are meant to have in the world and that means using the internet in a conscious way that helps them share their message with the world.
I am proud of the transformations I have seen my clients and community members have in a short period of time. I have people that came on my Croatia retreat this past summer that have already made massive life shifts, quit their job, and moved out of their home state.
I have others who text me after one of our trips “You have changed my life forever.” And that’s really want to help people with. And to help them understand that it’s just about help guide them back to their own guidance and what their soul is calling them to do, I’m just the guide and the experience creator that is the catalyst to make it happen.
I’m very proud of the next chapter of Light Club where we will be stepping in more to build masterminds and help our members create exceptional personal brands that will allow them to grow into who they are meant to become. 2023 is going to be an exciting year.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first quit my job, I didn’t believe that I could grow an audience online or that anyone would listen to what I had to say. I had 250 Instagram followers at the time and I definitely didn’t know how to grow that and find people that wanted to hear from me.
However, I met a friend on a trip to Portugal that shifted my mindset. She told me how she had grown her following from 1000 to 18,000 followers in 12 months, and I started to believe that I could do that too.
I listened what she had to say and started to consistently post every day on social media for about 9 months. All I was really doing was sharing my story of my journey to become a digital nomad and entrepreneur with the world. And as I traveled, something was rethreaded in my brain to believe that I could do this. And i did. I grew from 250 to 6000 followers in about 6 months.
I now teach others to create that consistency in their lives through content challenges and overcoming their internal limitations that hold them back from sharing their voice online.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I went to school for Electrical Engineering so for the longest time I was missing a lot of the foundational knowledge around business. I have spent a lot of this year learning how to build offers that connect with your ideal audience and market, and learn how to market that to the world.
One of the best books I have read this year is “$100M Offers” by Alex Hormozi. For marketing I would also recommend “The One Page Marketing Plan” by Alan Dib.
Several other YouTube resources I have had along the way too, but some of the simplest ones are just videos that changed my mindset and pushed me in a new direction. Go to YouTube and search “Steve Harvey Jump” and “Most Motivating Video for success.” Those really helped me as I was starting out.
