We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patrick Dennis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patrick below.
Patrick, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
The most meaningful project I have worked on, is my MaskOFF project. I created it after the breakup of my first relationship in college. It was a creation of the releasing and healing of the trauma that the relationship triggered from within me. The healing journey enlightened me about the authentic self and how one connects to their authentic self. The purpose of MaskOFF is to heal people through creativity and art. Through my own healing experience I became conscious of the power of creativity and art. Being creative brings one closer to the light of their soul. During my healing process, I created youtube videos, poetry, digital art and quotes, this helped me find my true authentic self. Every time I heal, those around me heal as well, So MaskOFF is me providing the world with the tools I used to heal, for them to use for themselves. Teach one to fish instead of fishing for them. I have a podcast called “MaskOFF” on youtube (look up “From the ville to the mecca” to find it.) to create an open space for people to talk about their trauma and how their healing process brought them closer to their true authentic selves. So instead of telling people how to heal, I created a space for people to he[p heal themselves.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am Patrick Dennis a creative who uses creativity and art to heal self and indirectly heal others. I use my project/business MaskOFF LLC to do just that. I have a podcast “MaskOFF podcast” (Look up “From the ville to the mecca” on youtube for it to show up) which is created to provide an open safe space for people to initiate and or continue the healing process and or empowerment journey in their lives. The podcast is based in a barbershop in Atlanta’s Edgewood neighborhood, the owner, Ernest Hood is an advocate for art as a healing tool and is an experienced painter himself. The show is centered around one major question; How did your pain/trauma turn into healing and purpose? This automatically causes someone to become self aware about the trauma they have experienced on top of empowering them through leading the question towards healing and purpose. I am thankful to have the opportunity to hear peoples stories and to experience the internal power of other beings. I pray everyone finds their true authentic selves and takes their MaskOFF.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to contribute to indirectly healing the entire world through healing my self, using creativity and art. Healing from trauma is the only way to find one’s true authentic self. Connecting to one’s true authentic self is the only way to living a fulfilling life. My mission is to live a fulfilling life through love and light and to help others along the way.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best action society can take to support artists and creatives; is to be open & understanding. Creatives and artists tend to think beyond social norms, however this is how they express themselves, when they are judged for their unique way of thinking it could damage their self-esteem and cloud the message of light that was meant to shine on everyone. If they are accepted their ideas will flow and their light will help others heal and grow.
