We were lucky to catch up with Patrick Artus recently and have shared our conversation below.
Patrick, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
Moving to California in 2011, not knowing anyone there, straight out of college was an eye opening experience for me. I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the Film and Television world. After a few years I was Associate Producing projects and was successful in that all the way until I left in 2017 to find a new adventure. While in California my mind stayed in a creative space and led me to start personal projects such as the Quick Sixer Podcast. Out of all the things L.A. taught me I think the most valuable lesson is that you can fail constantly but if you believe in something and you are willing to keep going those things can be the most rewarding.
Patrick, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Patrick Artus. I am a founder and producer at The Quick Sixer Collective. The Quick Sixer Collective is a group of podcasters and creatives who like to have a good time and inform our audience of cool things around them. This includes shining a light on local breweries, games they should be playing, and various other things that may be flying under your radar.
If there is a specific thing we would like everyone to know about our brand it is that we exist to shine a light for everyone else. If you have a brewery and don’t have the money for advertising; send us some product and we’ll show it to the world. If we all help each other out we can all succeed.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best thing to do with all creatives is to support them. Even if you don’t like YouTube or listen to podcasts; if your friend or someone you know has a channel you should go subscribe. It will help them broaden their audience and it will keep them going. The hardest thing about being creative is getting your work seen and if we all help out a little everyone can get some shine.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding thing about keeping a creative outlet like Quick Sixer active is the feeling of accomplishment every time we put out a video, podcast, or whatever else we might be working on. The sense of completion in a finished product was always something I enjoyed while working in Film and Television. When I make something for Quick Sixer it is the same feeling and I don’t think i’ll ever stop chasing that.
