We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patrick Aguilar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patrick below.
Hi Patrick , thanks for joining us today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
When I transitioned from high school to architecture school, I quickly realized that learning spatially in a creative field required a different approach than traditional academic subjects. While professors provided guidance, I found that my curiosity played a crucial role in my learning journey. I took it upon myself to explore various problem-solving methods and techniques, constantly seeking out new perspectives and solutions.
One significant moment that shaped my path was when I stumbled upon a video of an Amon Tobin concert, where I was captivated by the use of projection mapping. This sparked a deep interest in me, and I dove headfirst into self-teaching myself these skills.
In essence, I am entirely self-taught in many aspects of my craft. My curiosity has been my greatest teacher, driving me to seek out knowledge and skills wherever I can find them. Platforms like YouTube have been invaluable resources, providing countless tutorials and insights, making learning both exciting and accessible.”

Patrick , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Patrick, an experienced architect currently working at RoTo Architects. Alongside my architectural expertise, I am a self-taught creative technologist with a fervent passion for exploring the dynamic relationship between space and interaction.
Among my recent accomplishments is the creation of “the StoryTellers Machine.” This innovative project harnesses the power of AI to transform textual narratives into stunning visual representations. Using advanced speech recognition algorithms, the machine comprehends and interprets spoken stories, extracting key elements that form the basis for the subsequent visual generation process.
My journey has been driven by a fascination with the interaction between people and space, leading me to explore how technology can enhance these experiences. With a knack for learning new software quickly and a natural curiosity, I continuously strive to push the boundaries of traditional architecture.
I thrive in multidisciplinary environments, where collaboration sparks innovation. Whether independently managing tasks or contributing to a team, my goal is to innovate and create more immersive spaces that leave a lasting impact on those who encounter them.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My creative journey comes from my passion for architecture and my fascination with how people interact with spaces.
I saw interactive art installations as a way to intervene in spaces, turning them into dynamic dialogues between individuals and their surroundings. Through these installations, I aim to challenge traditional perceptions of space and prompt viewers to reconsider their relationship with their environment.
In essence, I use interaction to breathe new life into spaces, making them responsive to human presence and fostering deeper connections between people and their surroundings.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the opportunity to create experiences that resonate with people. There’s something truly magical about making something beautiful and interactive that invites people to engage, play, and immerse themselves in the moment. Whether it’s through interactive art installations, dynamic performances, or engaging exhibitions, the ability to create these experiences and see the joy, wonder, and connection they bring to others is immensely fulfilling. It’s about transcending the ordinary and offering moments of joy, inspiration, and discovery that leave a lasting impact on those who encounter them. That, to me, is the ultimate reward as a creative.
