We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patricia Robinson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patricia below.
Patricia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I chose the name StickUp Artistry & Design to pay homage to the rich history and tradition of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority incorporated. As a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, I’ve participated in the art of stepping and canes are an integral part of our step shows. Some of the formations using the cane, involve sticking the cane up in the air which is how I came up with “Stick” and holding the cane
upside-down where the handle makes a “U” shape is how I came up with “Up.” I combined the two and “StickUp” Artistry & Design was created.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
StickUp Artistry & Designs provides high-quality balloon art designs for any celebration or photo opportunity. Life sometimes takes us away from pursuing our passion or utilizing our gifts. This is why I started my company. I wasn’t using my creativity and design skills as much as I would like in my day-to-day life. I saw an opportunity to utilize my skills to help people celebrate their most important milestones and that’s how StickUp Artistry & Design was born. I definitely enjoy what I do.
What makes StickUp Artistry & Design different from other balloon art businesses is that I incorporate small elements of balloon twisting in my designs. Balloon Twisting is a fun and versatile way to mold and bend balloons to take on any shape. Balloon Twisting allows me, as an artist, to express my creativity and open a kaleidoscope of structures that I design. I’ve found, that these added elements enhance the balloon experience and adds a signature to my balloon art pieces, that makes me stand out from other balloon artist.
I want everyone to know that is interested in my services:
(1) That they can trust the fulfillment of their needs to my business.
(2) Excellent quality and customer service is an integral part of my experience with my business.
My proudest moments to date for StickUp Artistry & Design has to be :
1) Taking a leap of faith to become an entrepreneur.
2) Securing Taffer’s Tavern as a client, owned by Jon Taffer from the tv show Bar Rescue.
3) Being a special guest Balloon Twisting instructor at the first “Lou and Lee Events and Designs” Balloon Convention.
4) Stepping out on my own to host my first-ever independent creative instruction event. I’m inviting everyone to come out to join me to learn how to make creative balloon designs with basic balloon twisting techniques.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I get to support and witness some of my client’s most memorable and special moments. Whether it’s an engagement, wedding, baby shower, promotion, anniversary, birthday, or appreciation for someone, to be present for such an intimate moment filled with love and joy, has been the most rewarding aspect of being an balloon artist. When clients provide feedback that my creations played a role in there event experience, it is extremely rewarding and lets me know as a business owner that I am meeting a need.
Moreover, I enjoy using outdoor elements to showcase my artwork. Georgia has so many areas where you can find beautiful street art. I find that these vibrant art pieces enhances the way I create my balloon art and it also creates a stylistic background for the pieces I create. I like to put my art up against other street artist, I enjoy and admire.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The life of a balloon artist has both rewarding and challenging moments. Clients love the work that you do, but the financial investment for this artistry can be challenging. It’s a wonderful feeling when you can create the vision your client has, but with that vision, comes a particular cost. The prospect of bringing something new to an event with innovative and unique designs, feeds my need for creative expression.
In conclusion, the ultimate goal is to have a gallery that will showcase my balloon art and open up a creative space for other balloon artists to showcase all types of balloon creativity. There’s no bar to reach for the world of balloon artistry. If you can plan a design, you can find a way to bring it to life with balloons.
