Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia McManus. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Patricia, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
Though I did not initially pursue my dream to become an artist at the beginning of my professional life, creativity has always been in my blood. In 2016, I celebrated my birthday at an art studio in Tampa. I felt so fulfilled painting on canvas that day that I decided to return to other art classes. After attending my third art class, I realized that art was like therapy for me. Since then, my true passion for art and design led my hobby to blossom into my profession.
Patricia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a one-of-a-kind Artist! Inspired by nature, textures, and trendy designs. I specialize in acrylics and mixed media. I have a unique skill set and I can create a wide variety of art ranging from realistic landscapes to abstract paintings, botanical compositions to modern commercial art. With my unique ability to adapt to different styles, I can meet and compliment any decorator, designer, or customer’s project or style. This ability has allowed me to collaborate with numerous well-known interior designers.
How did you build your audience on social media?
With the rising popularity of different social media platforms, I have the advantage of navigating and promoting my art business through different platforms, most notably, Instagram. My best advice to build your audience is to post regularly, create trendy reels and Instagram stories, and professionally post your artwork. I also recommend using hashtags to increase visibility by appealing to specific people and niche categories. Another great way to increase your audience is by networking in your community with entrepreneurs, potential clients, and interior designers and building a strong foundation of trust and lasting connections.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
At the beginning of my journey, I attempted to sell my artwork by attending the neighborhood’s non-art-related markets not realizing that these craft fairs were not tailored to sell my high-end artwork. In other words, I was trying to sell my artwork to the wrong audience. Therefore, I started networking with well-known interior designers, boutique stores, and art galleries that better fit my brand and artwork.
