We recently connected with Patricia Mahone and have shared our conversation below.
Patricia, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name of my company came from a thought I had about myself and others like me. I was always shy and reserved, but I knew I had a gift inside me. I held high positions in companies, but I knew my mission was to help people find their purpose and passion. What I saw was that everyone has a gift or something special about them. Life situations and circumstances may have that special thing hidden. It is my mission to help people uncover and find that special thing (purpose) and walk with them along their journey. Hence the name Hidden Gems Consulting was born.

Patricia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been in leadership positions for more than 25 years. In this position, I was often in a position to guide and give advice and offer suggestions about life choices and situations. I decided to use the knowledge I learned and my life experiences to help others. I do business and personal consulting and coaching. I offer other services like virtual event planning and hosting. I also have started a program to teach senior citizens how to use basic technology to help them stay connected and so they can function in today’s technology driven world. I offer time management coaching and solutions and I’ve written and published a Time Management Planner.
What sets me apart is that my business is solution based. I set out to help people solve problems and remove obstacles so they can move forward in their purpose and passion.
The things I am most proud of in my business are my clients. My coaching clients have grown businesses, written books, developed courses, and grown confidence in themselves and their abilities since joining my programs.
I have lovingly been named “The Vision Queen.”

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
My strategy for growing my clientele is simple. CONSISTENCY.
I offer services and products that help individuals and businesses. I am heavy on great customer service. I am honest and don’t tell people I can do things when I can’t. If there is something I don’t know, my clients and I learn together. I practice patience with my clients. Many of them are doing things for the first time, so patience is key when coaching or teaching.
Many of my clients have come by word of mouth. This means my clients are telling others about the great service and consistency they receive from my business.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I began my business doing in-person workshops and events. When Covid hit in 2020, I had to pivot and take my business completely online. I had to learn how to use different technology. I had to figure out how my business would look in a virtual space. I had to take classes and courses to learn different ways to help my clients.
Because of this pivot, my business grew 90%. I now have worked with clients internationally and my client base is still growing.
Learning to do things a different way was the best business decision I ever made.
