Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patricia Edwards. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patricia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
As an entrepreneur, every idea and vision is a big risk. The risk is great because you have to evaluate if your idea is going to be received well by others. You have to consider the time and financial investment that is poured into your business idea in hopes that you will see a positive return. Flawless Belle was an idea brought to life at one of the lowest points in my life after losing my mom to Lupus. It definitely has its’ ups and downs, but I’m grateful for the connections I’ve made, the opportunity to share my talents with others, and most of all helping my clients feel Flawless.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am originally from Brooklyn, NY now living in Huntsville, AL. Growing up, I always envisioned what I wanted my style or look to be, but it was hard bringing it to life. I always wanted to be different and never really cared to follow trends and popular fashions. As I got older, I found my niche in accessorizing so I just always found a way to “jazz” up my look through accessories whether it be a scarf, jewelry, or fashion frames. My parents loved to dress up to attend parties; I watched my mom have a scarf and a purse to match every dress and my dad coordinate hats, ties, and cufflinks with all his suits. What better way to honor their memory, than to sell fashion accessories and help other find their own vibe to express themselves through fashion?
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I first started Flawless Belle, I started with a lipstick line and scarves. As time went on, I realized my passion wasn’t fully into the lipstick line, so I revamped what we offered and focused on exclusive fashion accessories, styling services, and closet organization. I consider myself a Stylist Concierge; if my client wants a specific look, I bring it to life. I have an eye for exclusive pieces that can accentuate any outfit and I encourage my clients to feel confident and stylish through their own vibe, not what’s trending. Through the 8 years of Flawless Belle, I feel we are at the place where we are working towards a brick and mortar as well as designing. We just want to continue working towards becoming a household name.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been vending at local events throughout Alabama and Tennessee; we have participated in events in Huntsville, Montgomery, Birmingham, Nashville. We are looking forward to expanding into other cities and states and expanding our website traffic.
