We recently connected with Patricia Aguilar and have shared our conversation below.
Patricia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
When i first started making treats it was during covid. However my interest began shortly before as i was preparing to celebrate my sons birthday. I was searching for someone to create some treats for me. When i was requesting quotes the prices were ridiculously overpriced. I made my own calculations and told myself this isn’t right. So, I decided to learn how to make my own treats. Mind you my first attempt wasn’t bad but it wasn’t the best. However with a few more attempts i began posting on social media and started gaining a following and receiving messages requesting prices.
Before i could respond i remembered what i went thru and asked what is your budget? And worked with what they felt comfortable spending and at the same time making sure i made some profit. I’ve been told that i take into consideration the customer and what they want to be able to give their kids and what they can afford. My prices are super reasonable which is why i feel I’ve been very successful. I don’t post to become famous. I don’t over charge to become rich. I make my treats with lots of love, attention, and provide what i would want to receive for myself or family.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As mentioned i started mainly during covid, since families couldn’t gather or have parties, i created drive thru goodie boxes for kids to give to their friends as they drive by and greeting them for their birthday. Made about 3/4 treats per box with whichever theme they wanted and it brought a smile to everyone during a difficult time we were all facing. When i started my business i provided rice krispy treats, chocolate covered Oreos, pretzel rods, cake pops, cupcakes. One of my most requested items have been my chocolate covered and candied apples.
I am proud that i am able to keep my prices low, i am able to help those that need help to make their kids birthday memorable.
I will continue to make treats for as long as i can because i enjoy it. It’s very important to enjoy what you do to put all your potential and keep learning and growing
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being creative is knowing they what you created came from you and if the public likes it then you are successful. Knowing you didn’t copy anyone and that people like your creation for what you made it. For example, i tell my customers i do not copy any other treat design i make my own. I use my own creativity to get as close to what the client wants however make it my own creation. And when they are happy with the results that’s what makes it even more rewarding for me.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to help those that are interested in joining this journey. Many time I’ve asked for suggestions or even simple questions from the influencer bakers and they want to charge you for a question. I help anyone who has a question. I share my ideas and recipes, because we all started somewhere. We don’t all create the same we are all different. I am not worried about someone making something better or copying me because mine will always have a touch of me and my customers know that.
