We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Patrice Simpson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Patrice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
So, a few months ago I left my 9-5 to pursue a digital entrepreneurship course. That was a huge risk for me because it was a slow season for my virtual writing service and my 9-5 would normally help me out financially when being self-employed couldn’t cover all my expenses. However, it was a risk worth taking. I learned a lot and I met a lot of awesome people on the journey who also became clients of mine. I aced the course too! I will be graduating soon and I got an email since week that I will be receiving an award at the graduation.

Patrice, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m a self-published author of two awesome books, SHE and Diamond In The Rough. I love to say that I’m writing for women because my main goal is to create compelling stories that women can relate to and enjoy. I am the mother of an amazing 6 year old boy. He is my number one driving force. I am fun loving, determined and multitalented. I enjoy the simple things in life. My brand, Tricii Writes, was created through my love for writing, and reading. I help persons to craft stories, school projects such as essays etc. I also offer editing and proofreading services. One of my favorite services though is writing consultation. I enjoy helping aspiring authors see their visions come to life.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Freedom! Trust me. The freedom to express myself, on my own time, in my own way! I believe that life is short so if we can create opportunities for ourselves to live life on our own term, that is something spectacular!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My passion. The need to leave a legacy behind. Those are the things that drive me the most on my creative journey.
