We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patrice Mullin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patrice below.
Patrice , appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
For me as a musician, the performance is the most exciting aspect of my work as an entertainer. Being on a stage singing, dancing and interpreting the song to the audience is where I shine. From the first time I performed in front of a crowd, I knew that this is what I want to do. My most enjoyable moments involve getting lost in the melody and striving to sing to the best of my ability while combining this with a visual presentation the crowd can relate to.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Singing is my passion. I’ve been singing for many years. I learned how to play the guitar later in life in order to accompany myself when I choose. I have been in many bands with many talented musicians. I have made videos to promote myself, as well as, use social media for ongoing promotion. I am constantly making connections with other musicians and agents to avail myself of opportunities to perform. I try to build positive relationships and support all musicians, agents, promoters and venue owners. I created a page on Facebook for musicians to post their gigs as one way to support others.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
One rewarding aspect of my singing career is the moment I see that people appreciate my talent and hard work. I also have experienced a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure from becoming proficient on the guitar giving me the ability to perform as a solo act. I strongly recommend that all vocalists learn to play an instrument. This is something I wish I had done much sooner.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Live music is a special thing that people who love it should support as much as they can. Musicians put a lot time, effort and money into creating music and performing for an audience. Musicians are not always compensated for their work possibly because people see it’ as a fun activity and they don’t see it as work. People may not realize the time that goes into the preparation for performances. People can support musicians by attending live performances and contributing to compensating musicians if possible.
