We were lucky to catch up with Patrice Hull recently and have shared our conversation below.
Patrice, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
As a business owner, almost everything we do is a risk. I started “Stuff We Wanna Say” after being laid off for the third time. Corporate America is where I started, but I have always wanted more. I knew I needed to work for myself. Perhaps that’s why the universe continued to disrupt my working pattern.
My business started in a spare bedroom. After a few months of preparation, I branched out to a co-op shared by 14 other businesses.
It was not the ideal space, but it was a steppingstone to move my idea from concept/novelty to existing business.
I knew I wanted my own space, but as you can imagine, Working Capital Loans are hard to come by for small businesses. So I sold my home. I sold the only thing I had in hopes to build something bigger.
It was a risk that most people would not take. but for me, it was the only thing that made sense.
To me, the home was just a temporary living arrangement, sure I own it, but I knew I didn’t want to stay there for the rest of my life. After selling the home, I was able to start my own line of “Created To Be Noticed” products. It was the best thing that I’ve ever done. If I had to do all over. I wouldn’t change a thing.

Patrice, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Created To Be Noticed (C2BN) was born at the intersection of style and technology. The brand’s impressive collection of bags, combined with impeccable customer service and a stellar reputation, has helped it earn success in sales and customer retention. Its popularity has grown over the years, making it a favorite among influential people in the United States.
“We originally started in 2011 as a brand called Stuff We Wanna Say,” explained Patrice Hull. “Then we were simply a marketing & T-shirt printing company that began with a heat press, printer and the will to express inner thoughts and creativity. In 2012, we opened a retail boutique in the heart of Atlanta to have a free-style custom shop with plenty of great t-shirts, bags and accessories. Five years later, in 2017, we began manufacturing the Created To Be Noticed bags. Two years after the first ‘C2BN bag’ was sold, we started wholesaling and partnering with existing retailers to maximize our selling potential.”
C2BN bags are designed with great attention to detail and the brand assures their customers that they will get noticed no matter where they go. They’re not just another travel bag, as they were made to keep people organized and become a travel buddy for state-to-state trips, or even just for the daily commute.
In the last several years, Created To Be Noticed has had the honor of providing products and services to over forty popular celebs, including Terrence Howard, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gabrielle Union, Teyanna Taylor, Amy Adams, Darren Le Gallo, Crystal Fox, and Musiq Soulchild to mention a few. The popularity of C2BN bags among many famous people attests to the high quality, craftsmanship and intricacy that goes into the creation of any bag.
“Every time you shop with us, you get a quality product and an amazing customer service experience,” added Patrice Hull. “When you have a C2BN bag, one doesn’t need to worry about having too much luggage—they are perfect for any situation.”
C2BN bags are a practical, stylish and convenient option for anyone who needs to carry their belongings or compliment an outfit. To shop the C2BN bags, please visit www.c2bn.com.

We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
I do not sell on any of the above platforms. Those platforms are geared towards making the platform more money,
When most sellers sign onto these platforms, they’re excited at first, then they lose focus within the next couple of months.
Most of the time because they think the platform is going to generate traffic instead of them doing the work.
When you rely on other platforms to sell your products, often times, they suggest two or three similar items to yours. If the other items are less expensive, a customer may op to choose another product.
It’s better to build your own site and start to create your own platform. Even if you’re only selling one or two products. It’s better than getting lost in the sea of thousands of products.

Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
In order to find manufacturers for my product, I would first attend trade shows throughout the US. Usually they’ll have different areas including sourcing and product development.
Even though the trade shows provide you with a lot of material/manufacture, I ended up finding my own.
I contact eight different suppliers. I spent thousands of dollars doing samples until I found one that I like.
And now nearly 8 years later, I’ve been using the same manufacturer.
