Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patrice Griffin . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Patrice, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Being a survivor of child abuse I knew I wanted to do something impactful, to help children that are in similar situations that I had experienced. I wanted the children that I would come in contact with to feel safe-loved and also heard. I then wanted to educate adults on how to protect their children from predators by recognizing the signs of grooming, behaviors and just to bring awareness as a whole. I decided that the best course of action would be to start a nonprofit and write a memoir about my life. I knew in my heart that this was part of my purpose.. I wanted them to know that they were not alone and that it’s not their fault. Knowing that I could potentially impact a child’s life or help an adult to keep kids safe was all the motivation that I needed. I started my organization Patrices Kids Inc.

Patrice, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I believe what sets me apart from other organizations is that I am a survivor. I’m not just talking about it. I actually lived it and I have a clear understanding of what these children go through day to day, just to survive and dull their shine so they can exist under the radar due to shame and feeling unwanted and worthless. I wrote my memoir The Unconscious Community to expose the truth and also educate so no other child would have to experience what I had to. On my website I give adults access to a series free trainings on child abuse in many aspects. I also give back to kids in foster care . I adopt around 300 kids a year for Christmas and back to school drives in conjunction with other organizations we put together events for kids to bring some joy into their lives and bring awareness . I want them to know that they aren’t forgotten and they are special.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy that I have used to interest potential donors is my truth, life experience and being transparent. Showing others that I really do mean it when I say that I want to protect kids. My actions show.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My consistency has build my reputation in this market. My will to fight for legislation to protect kids. My passion and most of all my will to win.
