We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Patient. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Patient below.
Hi Patient, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
After launching our debut EP, Past Lives, we headed to Earthsound Studios in Valdosta, Georgia, for the recording sessions of our next project, the Fever Dreams EP, under the guidance of the renowned Lee Dyess (known for his work with From First To Last, Mayday Parade, Evergreen Terrace). The first two singles were released in July, and the next single will drop on November 17th with the complete EP scheduled for an early release next year. This marks a crucial juncture in our band’s journey, as we’ve shifted towards heavier music and are actively honing our skills as songwriters.
Patient, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Patient, a dynamic 5-piece pop punk and rock ‘n’ roll force hailing from the vibrant music scene of the Sunshine State, emerged on the scene in the latter part of the inaugural year of the pandemic. The band’s inception saw the creation of their debut release, “Past Lives,” a testament to their resilience and creative spirit during challenging times.
Fueled by the positive reception and the joy of crafting music, Patient seamlessly transitioned to their next venture, the “Fever Dreams” EP. The first installment, “Stage One,” hit the airwaves in July of 2023, marking a significant milestone in their musical journey. Anticipation builds as the next single drops on November 17th, and the full EP is slated for release in the early months of 2024. Patient’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to delivering compelling tunes to their ever-growing fan base.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
In this day and age, the music industry is really focused on streaming and touring non-stop to keep the projects afloat. For smaller up-and-coming bands, this makes pursuing your dreams extremely difficult. Streaming services pay mere fractions of a cent on even highly-streamed songs, and most venues take a percentage of your merch sales when you play at their location. Compiling all of this with rising inflation, making music is expensive. The best thing that you can do to support to artistic ecosystem is to contribute to any funding campaigns they have, buying merch from their online store or at their shows, and really being there for them as a fan. This includes sharing their posts and music on your socials, showing your friends and family their music, and sporting their merch at social events. If someone asks you about your shirt, show them the band!
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
As a group of old friends in our mid-30s, we have all been playing music for quite some time. We have been in bands together, our past bands have toured together, and we’ve always really respected one another for our creativeness and talent. We have suffered through loss, held one another in tough times, and cheered each other on as we’ve tackled life’s biggest challenges as growing adults. Our mission is a quite simple one: to keep our love and dreams alive by writing and playing music together. Our goal is being accomplished right now as you’re reading these words, because it means that we are connecting with you. Our true goal is to meet new fans and make new friends while staying true to our mission and sharing the auditory emotions that we bloom together, If a whole room of people hear one of our songs and one of them follows us on Spotify or comes to a show nearby, we have accomplished our goal that day and we are ecstatic. Give us a listen, come see us and bring your friends, and help us all keep spreading joy and excitement to everyone we can. They deserve it,
