We were lucky to catch up with Patience Hosey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Patience thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear the story of how you went from this being just an idea to making it into something real.
I actually started my business from home while raising my kids. I was a stay-at-home mom, and makeup was my little escape—something that made me feel creative and connected. I began joining Facebook groups and doing makeup lives just for fun, really. I didn’t expect anything from it.
But people started watching. Then brides started reaching out. Then everyday women who wanted to feel beautiful for their own moments. One client turned into another, and before long I was getting booked for weddings, events, even commercials.
It all grew naturally—no fancy start-up, no perfect plan—just consistency, passion, and real connection. And the best part was that everything lined up in a way where I could still be home with my kids. My business didn’t take me away from my family; it actually grew around them.
That’s what makes my work special to me. I built it from my kitchen table, with my children by my side, and every client I’ve worked with has become part of that journey. I didn’t just create a business—I created a life that honors both my family and my craft.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Absolutely. For anyone who doesn’t know me yet — my name is Patience, and I’m a makeup artist who built my entire business from home while raising my kids. I didn’t come into this industry through the traditional doors. I was a stay-at-home mom who loved makeup and needed a creative spark in the middle of everyday life.
I started by joining Facebook groups and going live — nothing fancy, just me, my brushes, and whatever corner of the house was quietest at the moment. I didn’t expect anything big to come from it. I was just sharing what I knew, connecting with women, having fun. But that consistency and realness started to build a community. Brides began reaching out. Everyday women wanted glam for their photos, parties, and special moments. And from there, things just kept growing — weddings, photoshoots, even commercials. One opportunity led straight to another.
In those early days, staying connected with people mattered just as much as the makeup. I didn’t have a huge budget, so I’d buy affordable products, test them out live, and give things away just to stay involved with my audience. It wasn’t about selling — it was about showing people that beauty doesn’t have to break the bank. It was about being relatable, accessible, and real. Those small gestures helped build trust and loyalty long before the bigger bookings came.”
Today, I provide makeup services for brides, events, commercial shoots, and everyday glam. My style leans toward soft, timeless beauty — enhancing what’s already there and giving my clients that glow that lasts in person and on camera.
What I solve for my clients is simple:
• I give them confidence when they need it most.
• I bring calm to high-pressure moments like weddings.
• And I give them results that feel like them, just elevated.
What sets me apart is the heart behind my work. I built this career around my kids, my home, and my real life. Nothing was handed to me. I grew this brand with a phone, some brushes, and a whole lot of connection. Clients can feel that — the sincerity, the care, the attention.
I’m proud of the way my business grew: organically, authentically, with community at the center. And what I want potential clients and followers to know is this — my brand isn’t just makeup. It’s an experience. It’s a space where you feel understood and celebrated. Every person who sits in my chair becomes part of the story I’m still building.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My biggest pivot is happening right now. Life shifted fast — I’m a mom, a bonus mom, and I’m building a life with my boyfriend and our blended family. With more responsibility on my shoulders, I had to pick up another job that still lets me honor my makeup calendar and be there for my kids.
It wasn’t easy. I had to swallow my pride and admit that stability mattered just as much as passion. But this isn’t me giving up — it’s me adjusting so everything I love can stay standing.
This season taught me that pivots aren’t weakness. They’re strength in motion. And sometimes the bravest thing you can do is reshape your life while still holding on to your dreams.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes — absolutely. My creative journey has a very clear mission: I want to grow. I want to sharpen my craft, expand what I can offer, and step fully into the career I know I’m meant for.
My next big goal is going to cosmetology school so I can learn hair and bring that side of beauty into my services. I don’t just want to be a makeup artist — I want to be someone who can give clients a full, seamless experience from start to finish.
The dream is to make this my full-time life: doing makeup, doing hair, creating looks that make women feel powerful, confident, and seen. Every job I take, every pivot I make, every late night practicing — it’s all leading me toward that.
That’s the mission. Not just to grow a business, but to grow myself, so I can offer more, serve more, and build a future my kids can be proud of.
