Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Passion Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Passion , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?

I have always been interested in birth and babies. Even as a little girl I can remember watching labor and delivery shows on TV. I decided to go college and major in Social Work. My senior year of college I had to do a internship. I chose to do my internship at an agency that provided services to pregnant people of all ages. At this agency, I learned more about the holistic side of birth. I learned about home births, midwifes, breastfeeding, and etc. This route sounded so much more fitting to me. It was too late to switch my major but I did decide that I wanted to get into birth work so I became a doula. This was the BEST decision I have ever made. Since then, I have gotten further and further into birth work and I am more than happy that I chose this path.

Passion , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am an all around birth worker! I serve my clients through pregnancy, through their labor experience, and through postpartum. I offer belly casting, placenta encapsulation, early gender testing, nesting services, lactation services, postpartum care, and more! My overall goal is to help prepare families for their new addition! I am able to serve people of all different backgrounds. I work with all my clients to individualize their care. I am set apart from others because of how radical I am! I truly love my clients and enjoy serving them and being their advocate. Everybody should have a doula! Everyone deserves the level of care I provide to my families.

Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?

Using social media! Social media has connected me to people all over the U.S! I have had a huge amount of clients come from social media that I have never before. Simply sharing a post, doing ads, posting reels, etc. has helped me to broaden my business and meet some very amazing people.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Word of mouth! People can either help you, or hurt you. I pride myself on excellent care and services so that people will be excited to share their experience with others. I have also built so many connections in my field and that also helps me to build my reputation.
