We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Passion Burnell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Passion , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My most meaninful project would have to be my blank canvas zine! It is a passion project that I started in January to do a 10 page mini magazine of creative and sneaker content. This means a lot to be because it allows me to put all my creative ideas in one place and share with others, also keeps my creative juices flowing.
Every month a new cover, new ideas and spreading positivity in a world that can be cruel these days. I also hand craft and bind them myself and only print 10 copies to keep it exclusive and personal!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a creative and illustrator! I have been drawing since I could write, inspired by nostalgia and the 90’s. I love drawing and creating cartoon characters and more. I also love posting sneaker content and fashion tips and tricks.
I currently run a cute little art shop on my website where I sell my mini zine, art prints, stickers, t-shirts and pins.
I am also in the works of adding a blog to my website for sneakers and fashion and adding brand identity service to my business!
I am a storyteller through art and outfits. I encourage others to be their own cool and spread positivity.
I set myself apart simply by being unapologetically me! Showing others that its ok to be exactly who you are and not what society tries to force you to be.
I am most proud of my growth. Looking back on past drawings and campaigns I have put together, I see evolution, learning and hard work.
I would love for my followers and potential clients to know that I love telling my story and I look forward to expanding and begin helping them tell their brands story as well!

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect for me is being able to share my gift with my community and getting poured into with so much love and positivity as possible! It means the world to me to put my time and energy into an art piece and to put it out to the world and have them be able to take something from it as well!
Creating conversation starters, ice breakers, and conversation pieces. sharing my unique fashion style and having people ask for tips on how they too can recreate my looks just brings me a joy that’s indescribable.
I have met so many dope people through being a creative, participated in some dope collabs, made real friends and created circles that keep me motivated. that’s what its about for me!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I built my audience on social media through my passion, consistency and staying true to myself. I feel like a lot of people get caught up in the numbers and looking at bigger accounts and trying to duplicate that content in order to get the same results and that will never work.
The advice I would give anyone Is to stay true to you and creating what makes you happy. It becomes a stressful thing when you are creating content for the sole purpose of getting followers. If you keep your content authentic, the people that you attract will be there for the real you. Not the person creating content that may not bring them joy.
Find that joy and pour into it. Be consistent and show up for yourself and your audience and watch how quickly 1 follower can go to hundreds.
