We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Parsa Afsharjavan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Parsa, appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us about a time that your work has been misunderstood? Why do you think it happened and did any interesting insights emerge from the experience?
As a Creative Director with a foundation in Visual Arts, operating within various mediums and wearing multi hats often times is a norm for us; those operating behind the curtain. However this exact essence that allows us to be inter-disciplinary Creative Directors can at times serve as a disadvantage when presenting ourselves to other creative teams and groups which can become an obstacle to navigate through.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson is to be as transparent as possible when in communications with clients and collaborators; we all have a vision and a role in the projects we are apart of, its important to be clear with our collaborators to avoid road bumps along the way — though being able to adapt is key in all we embark on.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an Artist for me hasn’t change from the day I decided to take on creative pursuits full-time and that is the spark of joy and satisfaction I get from people connecting with my work. My craft began as a private conversation with the boy in the mirror and has now transformed into an open book of endless possibilities for all to benefit from. Art as no boundaries and can truly be a bridge between time and walks of life.
