We were lucky to catch up with Parlay Yvette recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Parlay thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
My 1st involuntary activity had to be of creative expression. There is no marked beginning of my artistic expressions. I do recall at the age of 3 feeling a defined command for artistry. Age 4 I was given the title of ARTIST by a Sunday school teacher, I had very short pause of acceptance- [ inner thought: ” ahhhh so this is what you call this. I am ARTISTÉ !!!” ]
That was a defining moment, as if I was given context to my quest.
I drew on absolutely everything. Got in trouble for drawing , painting & applying stickers alllll over the house my father built. It was MY QUEENDOM TO DECORATE, as I did continue. No punishment was a problem, grounded, ok – confined to my room, no problem.
I had plenty books and art supplies and two windows- I traveled to Saturn, the Moon and Venus regularly as I created ART.
I began art $ale$ at age 7.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I began multi media sales age7; •illustrated miniatue short story books, staple binder on manilla paper ( w double story line ) • 3D dolls of felt, stuffed with cotton, details varied per doll; hair , facial details, clothing( removable jackets) w/ pockets, stitching etc!
• rings made of wire from the OHIO BELL TELEPHONE installation men- rings varied in color combo, size and flair.
I signed myself up for various Summer School Art Classes.
Began Saturday Classes at CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF ART during high school ( as my high school art teacher could not contend w my talent, FACT! )
All the while I accepted payment for ART in a
all forms…..paintings, class projects (especially biology illustrations )
My art was frequently recognized for large exhibits in youth years.
Took courses at
•OHIO UNIVERSITY
•CLEVELAND INSTITUTE OF ART (again)
•ELECTRONIC TECHNOLOGY
INSTITUTE
• MEDICAL ILLUSTRATION , PRE-MED courses to learn the human body most accurately.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I am merely a tool,
Thru each person, soul or spirit I reach ( in any enlightening form )
I, myself, am elevated to a higher level of expression.
I don’t just create Art,
I Am Art.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
My realization of personal format has always been in focus.
I took as many classes of ART, LITERATURE, SCIENCE, MARKETING, PSYCHOLOGY, COMMUNICATIONS,
as i possibly could in varied institutions of higher learning. GOAL: absorb information that would fuel my purpose of becoming a Planetary Renowned Artisté of varied and profound expression.
Being fully aware of becoming a MASTER takes a lifetime.
As i filled my self with experiences I also chose to birth my children during my 20’s and 30’s- as i was becoming- so should they.
If I’d waited to become a Mother after reaching my artistic level of mastery I would not have been in feasible birthing years.
I have lived life celebratiously as I become. It is part of creation itself.
TO LIVE !!!!!
I do suppose some may have thought of me as being off rail when in fact, all was in self proclaimed proper order.
Know thyself !!! Nurture thyself !!!
Feed thyself and not the expectations of others.
Being a True Creative is to be demanding of self in expression as well as living.
