We were lucky to catch up with Parker Klein recently and have shared our conversation below.
Parker, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
In 2012, I was a freshman in college and had depression.
My friend told me to talk to people, but as an introvert, I wrote in a Google Doc. Unloading my mind helped me gain clarity and realize that things weren’t so bad.
I started writing down my goals, experiences, and things I was learning. I loved it. I accomplished more goals, remembered my experiences, and built up a knowledge base that I still reference today.
Then, I realized my friends and family didn’t know what I was writing down. They didn’t know my goals, they didn’t know what I was doing, and they didn’t know what I was learning.
In 2016, I had an idea for a private-first platform to write things down, that could be shared if you wanted. Unlike Twitter and Facebook, which are only for sharing, this platform would be to capture things privately and then you could choose what you want to share later.
I started building it that night 8 years ago and haven’t stopped. Today, Twos is a simple, all-in-one place to remember & share *things*.
Twos’ mission to help people live better lives by capturing, remembering & sharing.
You never know when you’ll need to get something off of your mind, when you’ll need to remember something in the future, and what you can accomplish if you take the time to set your intention.
With Twos, we’re giving people a quick and simple place to capture *things* to remember & share.

Parker, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Parker Klein. I grew up in San Diego, CA and studied computer science at Vanderbilt University. I started building Twos in my free time to remember & share *things*. I worked at Google, Qualcomm, and a startup in San Francisco, all while saving enough to pursue Twos fulltime. Forgetting *things* is still one of the biggest problems in our daily lives and writing *things* down is the easiest way to remember them. We provide a simple, all-in-one place to remember *things*—notes, tasks, reminders, events, thoughts, lists, and more. Our biggest differentiator is *things*. Competitors provide task managers or note apps, but we’ve created a new technology called *things*, which makes it faster and easier to capture and remember any type of information. Our goal is to build the best place to write, remember & share *things* and create the biggest network of private and public information.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I read a lot of personal finance books and became a saver. I invested the money I was making smartly based on the information from books and always lived below my means. I still do. Eventually, I had saved up enough money that I wouldn’t need to work for 10 years and I would still be okay. Then, I had the confidence to pursue my passion and see where it would take me. I’ve been on the journey for 3 years, I love the impact we’ve had on people’s lives, but we still have a long way to go and a lot to figure out.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We have a Discord community with over 1,600 members. It’s a wonderful way to get feedback and answer questions. We also post a lot of videos online and I’m always sure to respond to comments. I also receive a lot of emails from users and enjoy talking to them via email. I even set up calls with some customers and enjoy talking to them in person.
