Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Parker Klein. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Parker, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Most of the industry around notes and personal knowledge management are building very complex, superpowered tools that take a lot of time to set up and maintain. We are building a simple product for the everyday consumer and it shows. We receive messages every day from moms, people with ADHD, students, even grandparents who love the simplicity and values of Twos. We’re approaching the problem of forgetting things at the most basic level and giving people a place to write, remember, and share *things* that they love and use every day.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Parker Klein, I am from San Diego, CA, studied computer science at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and went on to work for Qualcomm, a start-up company in San Francisco, CA and Google in Sunnyvale, CA. I’ve built and launched 5 apps and websites that are all connected to self-awareness, self-improvement, and sharing. These products help people learn about themselves, reflect, set goals, and remember things. We live in a chaotic world where people are always telling us what to do, judging, and we try to one-up each other. These products are about becoming more in tune with yourself so you can be your best to help the world as best you can. I am most proud of starting my own company and the testimonials we receive from real people who have never met us. It just shows how big of an impact our tools have on people’s every day lives and inspires us to keep building better products to serve ourselves and the world.

How’d you meet your business partner?
I met Joe while working at a startup company in Austin, TX. I was on the tech side and Joe was on the business development side. We didn’t connect immediately, but it was Joe’s excitement and friendliness that built our friendship over years to the point where I moved across the country to live with him. We have very different skill sets and lifestyles which really complement each other and create an amazing team. I’m just thankful for all of his support over the years and I can’t wait to continue to watch him grow and accomplish his dreams.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, I started building Twos while still in college at Vanderbilt. It was a half-private, half-social platform I wanted to remember, share, and connect with myself and other people. I continued to work on it while I had other tech jobs after college. When I was at Google, it was against their code of conduct to share Twos since it was a direct competitor to Google Keep, so eventually, I had to take a leap to do my own thing. Since then, we have grown the userbase to 20k monthly users, have raised our pre-seed round, and will raise our seed round in the near future.
