We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Parish Hodges a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Parish, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today.

If I were starting over, I would believe in myself and push myself harder. Though I work on-air, I’m very shy sometimes and don’t feel confident in my talent. Now that I’ve actually started my own YouTube series, “On Par with Parish,” I feel more powerful than ever. I prove to myself every day I’m capable of making my dreams come true, but need to stay consistent.

Parish, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I’m a writer, host, and producer. After graduating from Middle Tennessee State University, I got my start writing for various entertainment blogs. It was great at first, but slowly I began losing interest. Not for entertainment but for writing. Being on air is what I craved, and I began working with various online radio stations. After a few years, it was time for me to start my own thing on my own terms, and that’s how my series “On par with Parish” was born. I’ve had the chance to interview so many greats artists, business owners, authors, and actors.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

I love talking with other creators, especially those in the same industry as me! My goal is to further myself, but also give other creatives a platform to share their creativity, whether it be music, acting, or storytelling.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The fact that there are people I’ve never met but have heard of me is amazing. I doubt myself a lot, but I’ve been invited to media events I thought I’d never get into. I also love when I’m complimented on my interviewing skills!
